My point is, people don't buy trucks they don't like. Look at the sales growth... that means more people like them. Resale has not dropped from the 2015 to the 2016 either, which means used is still in strong demand.

I get your point. I have never said people don’t like this truck and/or sales suck because of it. This is a popular truck and I’ve even said I love mine. But your missing my point. some of the problems it has hasn’t been addressed for us that have the problems and it gets dismissed by users here that there is nothing wrong and for us to get over it. Just because there’s a problem with my truck doesn’t mean I won’t buy another because I most likely will. And the claim that all 25k bought a month love thier truck and have no problems is wrong because we simply don’t know and will never know.

I have had lots of other vehicles and only the Japanese cars do I have to rev the fuck out of them to get any usable power. Why do I want a truck to have mostly all of that power towards redline. It's not vtech yo!? I find it dumb that people justify that, just put your foot into it. The 278 hp/torque figures sound good on paper but daily driving it feels like a four banger. The Jk/JL motor has same power torque but was more usable band. Never had to go above 4k unless in mud. Had more pull at 2k than this does at 5k. The dyno on the taco in a normal driving range of 1.5-2.5k rpm shows the truck making 180-200 hp and 190-215 tq. So basically the same as the 4cyl. No one drives their truck at 4k+ all the time. The tsb helps to hold gears and improve the shitty shifting. Makes it drivable in city traffic. Feels like more power since it's in a better gear and it also improves throttle response. It helps a lot, almost traded with 2k on the clock since drivability was rough af. I do love the truck, not trying to bash it. More that, most here want or drive their trucks like a 16 yo kid in a civic. Judging by the comments on the forum I see, at least 85% of taco drivers on here drive with their foot into the floorboard at all times.

Correct answer from Riotfunk. If your foot doesn't reach the firewall or you become afraid when an engine turns some rpms you will not be happy with the truck.

I pulled the conejo grade this morning (6.5%). Was going 65mph which is about 3100rpm in 4th Gear (1.00:1). Techstream was reading Real Engine Torque output at about 208nm (153 lb.ft of torque). The 2.7 is making peak torque of 181lb ft at 3800 RPMs. The engine still had enough power to keep accelerating if I wanted to.

Most aren’t afraid to turn the rpms. But most feel that you shouldn’t have to “floor it” to get the truck to move out of its own way. In my experience, flooring it results in a 1 to 2 second delay negating what “flooring it” is supposed to do.

I recently had the 2018 TSBs 58 and 125 done to my truck and it has addressed the responsiveness and shift issues under normal driving conditions to my satisfaction. A big improvement.

Image how awful the Ridgeline is as it is selling just over 2000 per month.

The ridgeline to me isn’t even a truck. It’s a civic with a bed sold to the retired!!! Lol

Dkurtz42 is Nostradamus. He called his shot....and it came to pass.

Only on TW could an OP post like this one create such a shit storm. I could start a thread titled " Why Children Shouldn't Be Smacked in the Head With Shoes" and by page 5 someone would be bringing up either the fucking 1GRE-FE or how horrible the 3rd Gen is.

Is that a ridgeline body mounted on a hummer 1 frame/suspension?

thats a nice ridgeline. if i would of got a ridgeline or even a sonoma i prob would of still had it, instead i got tired of the plain interior and rough ride of the Tacoma and traded it for a 2018 grand cherokee limited. couldnt be more happier

I sold a 2016 Grand Cherokee Diesel Summit for this truck. Couldn't be happier.

    Different strokes.

My wife and I named the Cherokee "Susan" because it sounded like a nosy soccer-mom name.
Susan was always all up in our business. She bitched at us every time we left our lane. She yelled at us to "BRAKE!" and often actively slammed on the brakes herself unnecessarily. My biggest complaint about Susan was that she would not keep her suspension at the appropriate height setting off-road for longer than 5 seconds, and the air suspension sounded like the car was ripping itself apart at higher speeds off-road as the shocks constantly fully extended to the stops over every bump and jump.
Also had a ton of issues with the DPF filter clogging off road and having to drive in limp mode (<30mph) for long distances to a dealership for a cleanout.

SSO hybrid bumper, Warn winch, RCI skid trilogy, RRW sliders, everything in the cheap/free mods thread, and of course the frame recall work.
I like the performance of my son's '04 4Runner. That V8 pulls hard all day long!
