Pickup soccer in a bit, then pops is coming over so we can try to replace my garage door opener. One of mine shit the bed on Thursday, but luckily my pops had bought new ones to replace his because he thought they were too loud (way quieter than mine!), so he's giving me his old ones. Problem is the bar is way longer than mine, so not sure if we'll try to cut it, or just try to mount them further back than my current one.

 

often the bar has a bunch of holes, so you can use a hole closer in to 'shorten' the bar. Maybe just drill a closer hole? Good luck.

 

We took care of it. Replaced both. Cut the bar by a foot, shortened the chain by two, and bolt it all in place. Way way quieter than before.

 

Now I have to reset my mirror from from Bob's Mirrors, and try to program it to the new garage door opener. And try on the wife's Acadia as well. Hopefully the new ones will work on her car since I couldn't program the old ones for some reason.

 

Was able to program the wife's car to both of the "new" garage door openers when she got home from running errands.

No such luck with my truck with the Bob's Mirror.

Gotta try it again during the day sometime. Maybe I didn't reset the programmed button properly. Argh.

You're asking a lot - you want it fixed and cheap - not sure I've ever seen both of those things simultaneously especially from a dealer. LOL

Anyone know if the chrome mirror caps on the 3rd gens can be replaced? Stupid shit. I hate chrome.

If not I’m probably going to figure out how to vinyl wrap them.

 

I don’t have a 3g, but checked rock auto. Unfortunately it seems they don’t sell just the cap. Maybe a dealership can order just the cap.

Wrap is a good way to do it cheap, or sand it down and paint it with a good spray paint always works for me

 

It’s a lease or I’d paint. I might get color matched vinyl, concern is matching the cement gray.

 

Just got a call from the dealership. So far everything on the list is fine and nothing is wrong.

They did say it needs new brakes and rotors, the brakes are low.

Could that be why?

 

I can imagine warped rotors can cause a shimmy, but that would generally stand out when applying braking force, (in my non expert opinion). Had that issue with warped rotors when I had my WRX.

 

I dunno. Everything else was a no, so guess we'll see.

 

Hmm, I've a warped rotor & a shimmy when I shift to 5th... But that showed up after they did the clutch, so I'm betting loose bolt on the clutch job for me... unless they over torqued putting the wheels on... No wonder people lease new cars! LOL.

 

I have this problem in my POS Civic...

 

Tomorrow when I get on the highway will be the true test I guess.
