Exactly why I sold them before I got them installed. I did a build sheet and I'd be sitting at GVWR before the two of us even got in the truck with consumables. The worst part of it all would be that I'd be at 80% of capacity in daily driver form so even putting 4 people in the truck without the tent and all on top would be a no-go for me. I'm ok with stretching 10% or so but best case scenario in trail trim would be at least 25% over. That was being super generous with Pelfrey aluminum front (RIP), synthetic winch line, aluminum skids, a rack instead of cap, etc. to even keep it that low.

So yeah, sold the sliders and I'm in the market for a clean 80/100 Series LC to supplement the truck... either that or the fiancee really likes the 4Runner so I might just hold off and trade up at some point.

If they are, why would they tell in advance? That's not good business practice :spending:

I really wish I could've made it up to flagpole on Sunday cause it looked like y'all were lacking a first Gen. However, I was stuck in bed all weekend being sick and not being able to move.

With the front bumper and winch, skids, my sliders, rtt and bedrack, my wife and me plus pupper, I'll be over that.

But idgaf. I'll just regear eventually

Yeah it’s pretty bad. I’m pretty sure I hit payload with 4 friends in my truck...

I'll do a pic dump tonight. My truck is fucked. Its stuck in 4wd . Messed it up on that hill when it rolled back when I was engaging from Hi to Lo. Worst case I might need a new transfer case. I'll check it out more this evening. I had fun with you guys though!

It's a work in progress. See my build thread.
My brother had a similar issue with his 2nd Gen. He was able to get it out by switching it when it was in reverse. No idea if this might help with yours.

Good point. I've gotten countless tickets for being over my legal payload

I'd be more concerned about an accident and the associated liability.

When was the last time you took your truck to be weighed?

Or were forced to in order to pass inspection?

I dont go to Canada. So, this actually has me curious. Why should someone care?

You are really on an offroad website for trucks talking about payload like it matters?

I've met families that combined weight is over the payload of this truck. Jesus

    Edit:

Both my "little" brothers play football. My middle brother is a 260lb kicker in college, my youngest is 210 and plays high school.
I'm 230. Just us in the vehicle with the stuff I have on it now and I'm over.

True, that's a feasible concern. Just gotta weigh the pros vs cons and associated risks and make a decision based on personal preference. Personally, I think the chance of that happening is so slim that I don't care how heavy I make my truck but that's not everyone's viewpoints.

I know. But we live in a litigious society with a lot of attorneys.

You can get sued for not being over payload.
