So you have one leak and all of the sudden, the reliability is so-so? Ok.

    Good luck with the Frontier.

I had a Pro-4x and liked it. It’s been awhile but it was a little more peppy then the Tacoma but not by much. Turning radius was awful as previously mentioned. Gas miliage was also awful. Conservative driving didn’t help. Maybe 18mi a gal.

I’m much happier in my Tacoma. Better interior and looks overall. Better gas miliage and turning radius. Better resale value and I think better reliability. So yes I think the Tacoma is just a well rounded better truck.

I've owned my 2010 Pro-4x for 4 years now, it has been great. It's a king cab with the 6spd manual so one of the more fuel efficient versions. My wife and I really only need one vehicle except she hates driving a manual. I'm considering a new crew cab automatic Pro-4x in silver as it ticks all of our boxes and we really like my 2010 overall.

Dude you have been asking about bolt-on stuff for your new Tacoma, did you somehow drill a hole in it to make leak? Anyhoo, I do not believe the Frontier has as many aftermarket options to bro your truck as the Taco does.

Is the leak you're determining that the reliability is so-so the weird water you get on your passenger floor mat after it rains?

big turning radius must be a nissan thing. I previously owned a quest and altima and when I got a lexus and tacoma, was surprised how tight the turning radius is compared to the nissans. my nissans start to fall apart after like 5 years. The only reason I got nissans before is I did not have money and they were cheaper than hondas and toyotas. Do not get a nissan if your only reason is they are cheaper than a toyota. they are good at making their tv commercials though, maybe next to (obnoxious) Chevy TV commercials.

Early frontiers had reliability issues - on ATs something about coolant mixing with Transmission fluid. In addition, the V6 engine had issues with timing chain guides (plastic) failing and requiring very expensive repairs.

    Bought it
I had a 2011 4x4 King Cab Frontier ( Access Cab) before my current Tacoma. Like others say, for whatever reason, the turning radius was terrible.

The engine had a shake in it that others on a Frontier Forum say was quite normal. Like there was something off balance or engine mount lose. But apparently was just fine.

The seating position was a little better than the Tacoma in my opinion though.

The ride was not as smooth as my TRD. Could've been the bilsteins, could've been weight difference, who knows.

The bed is steel and had the utlilitrack system on the sides as well as the bottom length of the bed.

In retrospect, it was a dated but extremely reliable and fun truck. If I had initially bought a crew cab, I'd still more than likely have it to this day.

Good reliable truck that is very dated with terrible gas mileage. Early models suffered from the "strawberry milkshake of death".

Tangent, but it was a shame they axed the Xterra. Seemed like a nice SUV with an available 6-sp manual.

I still have 2010 Nissan 4x4 quad cab. Has 190,000 on it and the only thing I have ever did is change oil every 5,000 and rotated tires. I averaged 20 mph and drove around 5 mph over whatever was posted. Love my new Pro but have to give props to Nissan.

Nissan is to Japan what Fiat Chrysler is to America.
I currently own a Nissan Micra (2015). Test drove a bunch of other Nissans.
Build quality isn't great, and Nissan seriously needs to update much of its lineup (and hire a design team that doesn't create butt ugly products.)

I had an SE 4x4 Frontier Crew Cab for 5 years prior to buying my 17 Taco OR, it was a great little truck and did everything I asked. The only issue I ever had in terms of reliability over the 100,000 miles i had it was a leaky rear main seal that was fixed under warranty. The comments about the turning radius are no joke, after driving the Frontier for so long I felt like I was in a zero turn lawn mower in the Taco. I would typically average 14 mpg combined city/hwy, and I was lucky if a got better than 17 mpg on the highway.

All that being said it was a great pickup and it did everything i asked of it on and off road but I wont be going back. Overall the Taco is a nicer rig and more capable and the aftermarket support for the Frontier is a fraction of what the Taco has. If you really have your heart set on a Frontier make sure you dont buy anything before the 2010 model year as they fixed some transmission/engine issues.

I read that the Nissans do not perform as well in crashes and were rated one of the worse vehicles in crash tests..could be old info but I read it a few months back..

Not as good as the Tacoma.

Also, for the record, all this talk about the interior. I do not care. In fact, give me a simpler dash layout. I don't like Entune anyway. Give me a basic AM/FM radio, aux input. BT would be nice, but not necessary. That's it. At times, I really miss my 1st Gen headunit.

I sat in a new Nissan Frontier and thought I was in a year 2000 time portal. The interior is horrendously outdated, not sure why Nissan hasnt done anything to update it. The Tacoma is superior in every way IMO.

Nissan Frontier a bit dated but bullet proof design and a lot bette shifting and throttle response than the Tacoma. I thought about a frontier an wished now I had gone that route. Thought Tacoma would break in and drive better and get better MPGs but it didn’t

Good thing is, Tacoma's have a much better resale value, so you can sell your current Tacoma and go buy a Frontier. Problem solved.
