He's calling the people he wants to help him sheep. I don't have high hopes for this being a productive thread.

Yes , they replaced and recalibrated the sensor. Worked great for about six weeks, been acting up for the last couple of weeks. Could be a dealership learning curve.

Thanks, I will report the results. I’m sure I’m not the only one.

Disconnect the sensor. It can't act on what it can't see. There will probably be some warning lights in the cluster, but it will never slam on the brakes automagically again.

The system can be turned off with the controls on the vehicle. However it should not be acting this way. I myself don’t like looking at a light on the dash reminding me that it is malfunctioning.

LMAO. Constitution says trucks can't have optional technology that records? I forgot the forefathers put that since it's an inherent right to buy a Tacoma

This doesn’t bypass your constitutional rights to anything. The constitution is meant to protect citizens from the government, not third parties. Toyota says they won’t disclose the information obtained to the government except by official request which would be a warrant and be legal.

If it’s not acting the way you expect, but you still want it enabled, drop it off at the dealer. If you don’t get the resolution you expect, open a case with Toyota directly. Tell the dealer your case number and that you will not be picking up the vehicle until it is fixed.

They have fixed it once already, it goes back in on 11/07, I will give them a another shot. If it becomes a problem again I will contact Toyota. I like the system, just not the problem’s.

Is paranoid of “big brother” and privacy issues from his truck if he sues Toyota or is party to a criminal investigation but is totally cool using google and other search engines, email, and probably still uses Facebook and owns a smartphone.

I would suspect the system in general has quirks/ flaws but my truck has the TSS but also was lifted with 6 miles on it. Lifted 6". The TSS and tire pressure sensors all were calibrated by the dealership. Everything works fine. That said I have had the "BRAKE" warning come up on the screen three times but never brakes applied by the truck. I felt each time it was when the highway had too much "going on". Construction zone on super slab and multiple lanes of traffic with lane shifts all just freaked it out.

The Tacoma has had an EDR for many years, long prior to TSS. They're more or less unrelated.

Sure, if you're happy navigating through a menu several layers deep to turn it off each time you get in the vehicle. The setting is not saved.

If you hold down the cruise control button for 3 seconds it will only engage standard cruise control and you won't have to worry about it. That's what I always do.

TSS will still auto-brake for you if a collision is predicted, whether you're using radar cruise or not. Check your owner's manual.
