Just received a disappointing email from Mat saying the handheld is delayed and will not be releasing with 1.05 even though that was his word originally. I ordered on August 4th and I still have not been able to tune and I am running out of patience. What do you guys think I should do? Just forget the handheld and data logger and get a refund and go with the dongle kit and flash with laptop or just keep waiting?

You’re sporting an ‘18 Tacoma. Average first owner life of a taco is probably 5+ years? I say stick it out for what you want. If you’re not going to log or custom tune, hold out for the handheld.

Point being, what’s another 2 weeks when you have 250+ of them ahead of you.

Says the guy with a dongle already... :)

I got same email. I'll wait it out as I do not have computer and don't really want one. He's doing all he can and getting it out for current customers should be the right approach. I wasnt expecting a handheld to be developed so for me it's a bonus. Matt will get it out as soon as he can after making sure the handheld works correctly.

Be patient til end of November? I guess so if I've already waited this long although I'm skeptical about November because in the email it states the handheld is being delayed by another company, Alientech (handheld developers) so it is out of Mat's control. Reason I say end of November is because he is hoping the software for the handheld will be done mid November, by the time it gets to my door it'll probably be the end of the month and that's hoping no further delays.

I'm on my 3rd Tacoma, had a 2010 TRD Sport and a 2014 TRD Sport previously as well as a 2012 4R Limited. I am going to log and custom tune which is why I ordered the data logger add-on for the handheld. I will just keep waiting, no choice, already paid.

I'm curious about the wait from August 4th, handheld pre-orders were October?

just wanted to check to understand your longer wait.

I wonder if he meant Oct-4th? That's the day it was opened and when I ordered mine :notsure:

I ordered the 2nd license on August 4th because I was going to use my friend's dongle to flash since 1.05 was supposed to be released back then so I waited and waited. Then the handheld version was offered so I had the $325 knocked off my handheld + handheld data logger add-on so here I am still on stock ECU. I cannot use my friend's dongle to flash first now because then the license will be locked to his dongle which would make the handheld pointless no?

Oct 4th is what I'm thinking as well, since that's the date of my handheld preorder

    Ahhh okay,

well since you ordered the datalog cable, we can send you the cable + dongle-less software, then the handheld once it's ready. That will get you started right away

So that would allow me to flash to 1.05 with my notebook and then once the handheld is shipped to me I just plug it in and no further action is required?

    yes,

but when you get the handheld there is some interaction required, you have to save your trucks data etc so the handheld has your truck vin installed

Ok then I will wait for the cable + dongle-less software to ship first. At least this way I can get off of this stock tune once 1.05 drops then worry about the handheld later when that's finished.
