I've got a 2018 TRD Sport. I think one of the differences is that the off-road has an additional skid plate under the tranny. I want to add this rear skid plate from the OR to my sport.
First off, is my thinking correct that the sport simply omits the rear skid plate?
Secondly, if the OR rear skid plate is an add on, what's the part number?

    TIA

After seeing some pics of a beat up oem skid plate, maybe rci would be a better choice.

And there’s a group buy starting soon for RCI. The OEM is a waste unless you got one free.

I dont think theres any extra skid plates other than the gas tank skid? maybe the slightly upgraded IFS skid over the "gravel" skid that comes on all the other trucks?

but i dont drive a 3rd gen sooo i may be oblivious :anonymous:

Yes the OffRoad has a second piece behind the main one which your Sport has, bolts right in. That being said, if you watch the for sale thread you will see that people are basically giving them away because they are rather thin, more like splash guards as opposed to skid plates. If you plan to do some serious offroading, spend your money on something stronger, minimum the TRD Pro skid, or RCI, etc.

Also, if you want a factory gas tank skid like the OffRoad has, you will need to change out your fuel tank straps to the OffRoad ones, which have additional mounting studs for the skid. The factory one is plastic though, so it's more for abrasion/cut protection as opposed to skid protection. Lots of companies make stronger metal ones that bolt up differently

I replaced my front and trans skid with RCi aluminum front and steel transmission skids. Also have their sliders with the top plate.
They usually have sales around the holidays. Their stuff is pretty nice. Main reason I originally went with them is the shipping cost to Cali. Mobtown looks like good stuff but shipping to much for me.

The OEM offroad skids are junk. Get aftermarket if you want any sort of protection
