I just got a 97 tacoma with less than 100,000 miles. I feel bad that it will spend the winter on the street. It has been treated pretty well in it's life so far.

    Welcome to TW!
At least get her a good detail job, wash, wax, sealer and undercoat that frame with fluid film or the like.

never heard of fluid film. I think the frame has a coating. I will double check. Should take it in for a physical anyway. Need to get some weight, and I am searching for a topper. It is a fun little beastie, but it has no body rust to speak of, and I am going to feel pretty guilty if she has some by spring. She does have a little bondo, so she isn't perfect. I think a tree fell on her at some point.

Frames are a Tacoma's downfall, no matter if its 1st, 2nd, or 3rd gen. The winters are terrible on them in the midwest and eastern states.

I had heard that. I had heard, in fact, that there is a guy not far from here who runs a side business rebuilding tacoma frames. Hoping not to need him.

Thank you for accepting me! I just bought a 2018 4wd Tacoma. I traded in a 2011 FJ Cruiser which was ma favorite vehicle of all until the transmission failed. I had two previous Tacomas. All my previous vehicles were stick shift so I am VERY surprised and disappointed by the feeble engine and cumbersome shifting of my first automatic. I bought this truck to drive on trails in the woods where I live but yikes, I can barely trust it on the highway. I grieve for my FJ! I look forward to learning about the ECT button!
