I was supposed to go camping down in South Carolina this weekend,but since my truck is broken there is a good chance I'll be here.

 

I've heard that the weakest link to that transfer case is the actuator.

Its plastic for some reason. I've read of a few who have broke them

Well,it did make a nasty sound like some plastic being ground up in a garbage disposal !
I heard it aint cheap either. I'm going to drop it off at the dealer some time this week.

Thought this was pretty funny and wanted to share with y'all. So on thursday i started hearing a grinding noise coming from the front end of the car. It increased as speed increased. It sounded like it got louder when i turned left. So i thought maybe i had a wheel bearing going bad. I dropped the car off yesterday on my way out of town. The tech found the issue this morning. A rock must have bounced up and gotten wedged between the top of the caliper bracket and the top of the rotor.

They sent me a picture. On the top edge of the rotor on the inner side, you can clearly see a line where something had ground down all the rust, while the outer edge of the rotor has normal rust buildup. The offending rock was nowhere to be found. It either ground itself into oblivion, or evenually down to size where it could fall out. Whatever the odds of a pebble bouncing its way up there and getting lodged are, i may need to go play the lotto. Maybe ill have similar luck.

I was out with the trip on Sunday. My truck is stock and handled the trail great. I been out a few times on that trail through Meadow Knob and Flag Pole Knob. Good route to take multiple times to find your limits on the truck and yourself.
