    Hey old guys.

Yep.. older guy here.. bad knees and all. highly recommend this ladder.. i use it every time i drop the tailgate, works great when im loading up the bike too. find one that works for you, i wont go back. Dont have to get this one.. but at least browse for a cheap chinese one (or build your own!), it changed the way i use my truck bed.

    Hey Young guys.. yep you!

find a variation of this ladder that works for your dad / uncle / granps... Christmas is coming around the corner. This 50 yr old guy has had one for 7 months now. and its probably the best thing ever. Welders, make your dad a custom one of these. Actually wish i had one of these when i was 40. If one of my kids had gotten this for me.. they would have been my favorite.

Ultra Flex bed cover, TRD PRO Grille, 32" LED light under grille, Pop n' Lock on tailgate, OCD organizer for center console and glove box, LED bed lights, OEM bed mat, black TACOMA tailgate letters, LED illumination light package, black vinyl overlays for badges, OEM bed step, plasti-dipped front valance and mirrors, 15% tinted windows and sun strip, vinyl letters on dash, vinyl letters on tailgate handle and door sill protectors, TRD Pro shift knob, home-link rear view mirror, mountain vinyl decal above Tacoma on door, FN FX pro wheels, AVS bug deflector, AVS in-channel window vents, front bed rail, red line hood struts, LED interior lights, TRD Pro skid plate, slim line front license plate holder, CaliRaised LED Ditch light brackets with LED lights, Bilstein 5100's, OME 888's, Dakar HD leaf springs, cubby covers, CaliRaised LED Fog light kit,
That is nice. But I just bought the bed step and installed it under the left rear bumper. Works great for getting in and out of the bed. Also, don't need to have the tailgate down with the step and don't lose a good chunk of bed space. But this ladder is really nice.

First of all 50 is not old.

Does it detach from the tailgate or is it screwed in?
I cant have that thing constantly in my way. It has to be removable when not in use.
Me and my father in law have caps so you cant impede the ability to reach in and slide things out of the tailgate. (And we obviously cannot walk into the bed)
Plus my FIL has a Ford. It has a built in step that comes out of the center of the tailgate.
Would like them to make one of those for the Tacoma. That would be nice!

This ladder doesn’t work with a lift either... which is an issue.

I want them to come out with a memory foam bed mat haha. I’m fine flexibility wise getting in but my knees take a beating crawling in the bed.

That is cool wonder how it would install with the Mobtown Tailgate Skin I have?

True! Age is a state of mind.
I just posted it to share because it changed the way i use the bed. I dont have mobility issues... just super sore knees when getting up in the bed. Your idea of a mat might be a better solution. The ladder i have does NOT detach without removing the 4 screws that hold it in.

I have the OEM bed match is the greatest thing ever made for the bed but its still pretty firm when crawling on.
I’m getting tired of crawling in the bed though and I’m not even 30!

    no sir,
4 sheet metal screws that go into the tailgate. but you could use anything really. Im guessing the Mobtown skin would only help hold it, not hinder it from installing.

Im only 34 and I might have to get something like this. Would be great for bed camping and for the kids to be able to get in and out (they like to hang out in the bed of trucks during summer)

It looks like you could replace the hinge bolt with a clevis pin for easy removal.

There is a slider that sticks out a bit, but besides that, its got one bolt on each side with a bushing so it will pivot. Got some photos for you all here. I might approach it differently, use 4 rivet nuts in the bed of the truck, and just remove the 4 easy to access bolts everytime i wanted to pull it out.
