I'm contemplating making that exact same change. The Cooper AT3's on my 4Runner have been great so far and definitely don't need replacing, but I've such good things about the Falkens...

Maybe get an extra set of wheels as well and then you can test them both on alternating weekends.

My local Discount Tire says installation is not free if I purchase the road hazard from them. I think they said ~$190 total to install and certs.

 

That sucks. I purchased 3 sets of tires from DTD and bought certs from my local DT every time, and they've never charged me for mount and balance. I'll post up my receipt in a few hours when I in front of my comp.

I purchased KO2 load E. If there’s an issue with balancing (my main concern), I believe that’s a manufacturer defect and is covered by BFGoodrich’s standard warranty.

Do I really need DT certificates then? These load E would have no issues running over nails/potholes. Or am I foolish to think that?

 

Do you know if the Wildpeak AT3/W in 265/65 R17 will be eligible for the $100 off coupon code anytime soon?

 

Tires purchased through DTD can be installed at any Discount Tire or America's Tire location for the same in-store installation charge of only $20.00 per tires (plus applicable tax/fee's). This price includes lifetime balance, lifetime rotation, new TPMS rebuild kits (or rubber valves) and flat repair

As for the Certificates for Refund or Replacement, this protects you again irreparable road hazard damage which is not covered under the standard manufacturer's warranty. While more robust in construction, LT tires can still be punctured - we see it all the time. You can certainly forgo the coverage if you'd like as this protection is totally optional.
