Anyone have a recommendation for a mobile welder? Im rebuilding a camper and its going to involve welding some of the aluminum structure. I will have everything cut and in place, just need someone to stick a few pieces back together. Some of it is 1" square stock and some of it is sheet, not sure of the wall thickness of either. Im willing to pay whatever the going rate is for a welder, just looking for a quality job.

    Heres a couple examples.

@Milota95 can do it. But you know that's gonna be a pricy repair right?

I figured its probably expensive to get a mobile welder. What makes you say that though? What I didn't go into detail about in the post is that Im reconfiguring the camper, specifically taking 20" out of it so it fits in my bed with the tailgate up. Its getting a total gut job, this is my 3rd camper remodel. The fabrication Im doing myself ahead of time and will call the welder when Im ready to have the stuff stuck in place. It will simply be ~20 welds 1" long to connect the aluminum tube in various places.

There's usually a minimum you have to pay no matter how small the job is to make it worth their time out to you. Then getting someone with the skill for aluminum I would fully expect 200+ even for just 20 welds.

Ive got them fully documented in my Dodge build thread over on expedition portal, here. One is an 80s vintage FWC Hawk that got a full gut job. The other was also an 80s (but newer feeling/looking) "Four Seasons" by Lance which I did an interior refresh on. My mom helped me with the sewing, she's a seamstress, I never could have gotten the plaid to line up like that on my own!

This one is an 86 FWC Fleet that Im shortening to be the size of a Swift so I can fit it with the tailgate up. This one will also get the most intense gut job Ive ever done. Including a complete reskin of the exterior. Hoping to have the squish and reskin done for my annual friendsgiving trip to Moab the weekend after thanksgiving.

The interior refresh project I reckon I had at least 200 hours into, I really got into the details of that one. The Hawk gut job Im not really sure, probably also about 200 hours. I didn't go nearly as detailed on the interior of it but it got an entirely new subfloor, cabover bed subfloor, insulation, exterior repaint etc. That one was kind of quick and dirty. This one will hopefully be the nicest one yet. Im planning 3 phases: shorten/reskin, interior update, Canvas and (if necessary)roof.

I really miss the color and materials palette and fit-finish of that last camper. Im pissed that I ran out of the wall covering. Shouldnt have wasted it on the Hawk. I have some scraps that might find their way into the new one.

For aluminum welding we would charge 100 bucks for every 6 inches and 45 for the visit to your home. Prices may be different now

Thanks for the info. I guess Ill tell myself that having to fork out $500 isnt out of the question depending on how far I take things.

Gotta always get the girls first love's approval before asking her. Depending on what kinda dad they are.....That might be one of the wisest choices you'll make for sure and will allow for starting off on the right foot.

They’re coming along, not as blurry as they use to be, and color is getting brighter and nicer contrasts, and can tell what your subject is in the picture.

Saw the Doc today. No real news other than what i already knew, no break. Getting MRI scheduled to see extent of damage in there. Made a decision to not resume the AZT until confident no tear and ankle stronger after some rest and PT. Even if just a severe sprain I'm down prob 30 days minimum which puts the rincons and mt lemon into mid winter which is a no go. So I'll probably give up my plan of hiking the passages in order. I'll finish those 3 passages at a later date prior to hitting Utah20181030_155652.jpg
