I've always used the stick in deflectors in fear of the in channels causing scratches on the windows due to the extra pressure. Anyone ever use the in channels on their Tacoma, and if so, thoughts?

Came across the matte black today, and bought them due to how they looked. But, now worried if I'll be getting the micro scratches or not.

Photos are new Tacoma with in channel VS my old tacoma with stick ons.

I prefer the look of in channel myself. I have weather tech on my Tacoma with manual windows, I've noticed no scratches. I do think there is a possibility that the in channel could stretch the window seal.

I’ve had mine on for about 2 months and have not noticed any scratches. I live on the beach where sand ends up in the oddest places, so I really thought it would be an issue.

Friend ordered them, he works at O'Reilly here in Maine. Next day order. Little more pricey at $100 for them, but definitely like the looks. They're a dead match to the black between the windows (front n rear) so look like they came like that.

Awesome to hear. Ty. Windows are due to be blacked out soon, and just worried about tint/window being scratched.

I like them too. I have the smoked avs in channel as well. They are great, no issues. Now I would like to get the matted one's but I would have to get the bug defelcter matted as well.

    Fresh gas.
Plastic soft. Glass hard... Should be ok. I would be concerned if you live in a sandy environment like Quimby.

I had in channel ones on my Titan. They didn't scratch my glass.

Honestly, cheaper and easier to get matte black paint for plastic and just do them yourself, VS buying new. Super easy to do, just make sure temp is above 70 degrees, no wind, dust. Lightly sand the deflectors before hand and clean thoroughly with alcohol. Then paint em.

I can handle doing that, however I was hoping these are not painted but done when they are made and come out matted.

They're Matte factory non painted. Only issue, packaged stacked on top of one another and because they're Matte, they're slightly scuffed in some areas where they were touching. After winter and hunting season, I'll have them redone next spring with a stronger paint coating.

Here's what the scuffs looked like. Don't really notice them when on truck if don't know about it, but I'm super picky.

Tint never comes into contact with the vent visor, the film is inside remember? The glass itself won't get scratched either
I've had my weather tech and tint for about 8yrs with no issues.
Make sure you clean the window channel really good before install.

Yea, tints on inside, but with the extra pressure against the door padding, worried it would start to rub the edges up of the tint, or if dust on the padding, cause scratches.

Tint goes on the inside, shouldn't be any issues there. I have never heard of any issues with scratches. But I haven't had this item on any vehicles since back in the late 90s. Get a good tinter to do the windows shouldn't be an issue. With a crappy tint job could see edge roll though...

I like those matte black ones. They look like they match the truck better. So those just slide up in the window channel & pop into place?

There's double sided mounting tape that helps hold them up in there.

Scratches to the in channels or to the windows? The in channels shouldnt be getting scratch by anything. The window is made of glass which is much much harder than plastic and should not scratch either.

Dust/dirt between plastic and glass can't be good.
