I drive a white short bed, so I’m a bit biased. I’d say swap what you can over! Also, that truck has been on Craigslist for a while now, close to 8 months or so. Not sure how much flexibility he’s willing to give on the price. It used to have scs F’5s on it.

That’s why I’m after it. Hoping he’ll budge a bit. I would just buy a new Tacoma but...I haven’t been impressed with them.

I would trade up to the 14 just for the less miles and interior alone. I had an 05 and went to a 14. Couldnt get over the difference in interior features.

I paid 30K pre-tax for a stock as balls 2015 DCSB in 2016. That's a lot of work done, but most know that aftermarket stuff doesn't always equate to sales value. That's a crazy low amount of miles for that truck though...maybe 32,500 tops just to avoid all that work and spent time myself.. Not a super good judge of these things though.

Go with choice A (2014). What else should you be doing with your time and money?

I'm super lean as well, just fuel, water, and a kitchen box/cooler. That alone takes up pretty much the whole bed:

Are you the original owner of the 06?

Ive contemplated this myself, and you don't know the history on the 14. The seller could have put rocks in the oil. You know your history, since you've owned it this long.

I would keep your current truck. Apart from packing light, the 6 foot bed is useful in a ton of ways, but I'm biased. I transport mountain bikes and still have space to sleep on the other side. At the end of the day, I would keep your 187k truck... The trucks will go forever and forever with maintenance. I can't see you spending over 13k to keep your truck going in the future. Does the 2014 have features that your truck doesn't have, that you want? Heated seats, etc?

I would pick by bed length desired.

Your going to have to buy a new truck sooner or later, cut your losses now and buy a new truck.
The longer you wait, the more you lose. Its like a boat with a slow leak, eventually it will sink and drain your wallet and you will find yourself scrambling to find something else. Do it now on your own terms while she’s still running and use that as a down payment. Gen 2 doesn’t last forever.

If I had your money I’d get the newer truck.

Since I don’t have your money I’ll keep my 06 as long as I can.

I'd keep it for alot of the reasons already stated above, but another factor is you KNOW the history of your truck.

If your going to upgrade to a new year, since your pulling all of your stuff off anyway, I'd find a completely stock Tacoma with which ever package you like better, sport or OF, that owner has service records. Unless you get the vibe that the guy is a total mall crawler, never know what he did with his mod'd truck.

Another factor is do you ever plan on selling your truck? Meaning do you care about resale in the future... etc. Obviously 5 years from now a 2014 with less miles will have a higher resale value.

Personally, I quit worrying about it a long time ago. Im never going to sell it. I liked the 2012-2015 front end, so swapped it. Needed new engine, swapped it, liked new sport seats better, swapped them, etc. The cab, the bed, the tailgate, the dashboard, rear axle, and carpet are only parts I think or original, lol! Will I ever get the money back if I was to sell it, of course not.

Just my too pennies worth :)

I believe it’s more the piece of mind of knowing the truck has much less miles, in new(er) condition, etc. I also do find the long bed very useful, but I am almost never in the bed of the truck. All my surfboards go up on the camper shell.

In terms of maintaince; no, i would not spend 13k on my truck...at least I hope not!
