I do plan to sell my truck for another Tacoma *at some point*

What point that is? not sure. but I would love a lower mileage one, and blessed to be able to afford it

If he is going to sell it for $13,000, another idea... Buy it, use your parts, put it back to stock, resell for a profit, use or sell parts you took off of his :)

Keep what ya have it ain't always greener on the other side. Your have a great setup already, 13k you got set aside can go a helluva long ways in any repairs you may incure. I'd have a trusted mechanic go over yours front to back with a fine tooth comb. An make a informed decision from there.

Also curious why the 14 is for sale something to contemplate. Also it has the injection pump.

I bought @AR15xAR10 dads truck because low miles and I knew it was well taken care of. Ive put 50k miles on it, and plan on keeping it forever. (And Ive probably drilled too many holes in it to sell) I go back and forth after seeing other people's builds (@DannyBFresco had me looking for an 06 today) but in the end, i still love my truck, and wouldn't trade/sell it for anything.

Plus id have to start over on my build. And TW has too many bad ideas for my wallet

Well, if you do plan on reselling in the future, maybe upgrading to newer year could help. But still Leary on buying a mod'd truck. I would actually feel sorry for the seller, lol! I'd go through that truck so thoroughly, he'd even start to wonder if he has a good truck, lol!

I’ve never purchased anything modded before, but I’d pick it apart before even making an effort that it’d be hard for something to pass under my radar.

then I’d have a mechanic look at it after to ensure I didn’t slip up lol. I do believe some things are nicer being done already (suspension). If there were other stuff done, I’d be a bit more weary.

Aww shucks, don't make me blush

@SoCalTacoTruck being a 2006 owner, I feel I can speak to this. I just went through the 2003-2006 4.0 headgasket failure, and I was considering the same thing as you were. I decided to keep mine because I would have gotten another DCSB, so no point really. If I were in your shoes, the only thing that would be a difference maker to me would be whether or not I wanted to switch to a short bed. Otherwise, you'll be throwing a whole lot of money (assuming) at buying a much newer truck with not much of a difference to what you have (take that how you will - good or bad). My $0.02

Have you already configured your gfc camper for your bed length? Do they come in various bed lengths? Or is it one size fits all?

Makes a ton of sense - I believe what I’m thinking about are just numbers on the odo. I think the logical thing to do is just get my truck fully looked over

    then 35’s.

I have not - Which is why I’m thinking about it now. Once I configure it and they start building, no going back.

Then your twice as happy, twice the fun, twice as many projects, and 2 toys, lol! It's win-win :)

    J/J

In the end, my vote is to just keep yours. Save the money.

Yeah, it makes the most sense unless you want a short bed. Otherwise, you'll thank yourself for not having the new car note.

I went from a 2002 SR 5 Double Cab with 175K and in need of some suspension work to a like new 2010 Double Cab TRD Sport but I am 76 and just didn't want to work that hard. I wish I would have kept it, 3 weeks after I sold it and got 10 I gotta call that changed our lives. Went to Idaho for two weeks and came back with 3 teenage grandkids, 2 of them boys who need a project, which the 02 would have been great for as they had worked on it a few while here on visits. Would have been a great first car for the oldest. About the same time I got rid of our 04 Ford Expedition with about the same miles, would have been a good car also to haul all the grandkids around. Keep the current one and buy the 14 always need a backup and toy.

I’ll have to check it again - I believe with the intro of 3rd gen...2nd gen prices went up.
