Yeah, Magnuson wont say anything! All of the answers you get are extremely vauge, they are Sealed tighter than a nuns.. well you get the point :)
As far as California Emission laws go for the twin turbos i had a couple ideas on how to get it registered but neither of them legal . Im really hoping Matt decides to get CARB certified but its looking unlikely

Are these engines burly enough to use forced induction? I seem to remember that a variation of this engine is Turbo'd in other Toyota vehicles, but in those cases are the internals strengthened?

These engine can easily handle forced induction. We already have a couple forged internals from the factory which is a good thing. The only time you should be worried is if you plan to make this a race truck and your are putting tons of boost.

I am military as well... the rule about residency in the military is you can claim residency wherever you are living or wherever you have ever had residency. For my unit for example, a lot of people live/work in FL or have been stationed in FL at one time. They choose to keep FL as their residency because of the lack of state taxes. AL on the other hand taxes the hell out of you. So if you can still claim residency in a no tax state and live in a lesser cost of living area then you win out! Obviously this has nothing to do with tagging vehicles, but my co worker tags his vehicle and claims FL residency but lives in AL...

CARB certification is extremely expensive from what I've heard, which is why so many companies don't bother doing it and many aftermarket parts aren't legal to install in CA (assuming you plan on passing emissions tests every couple of years once the time comes).

Magnuson didn't even get their superchargers CARB certified until a little over a year ago, even though they were the exact same thing as the TRD branded ones. You could have a TRD supercharger and pass smog, but if you had the Magnuson one (same thing, different logo) you would fail smog. Until about 2016 when they finally got certified.

It's dumb because it really has nothing to do with emissions and everything to do with CA wanting to make money.

I'm already running cold air intake upgraded headers and have no cats on my truck.

but hey I do love spending time working on my truck and don't speed(on road) so it's a risk I'm willing to take

Also When I was living in Texas for only three months I was able to register my Nissan there as with just an address my mother owned I was working for a company online in Cali and still had a Cali bank account. Im not military I think I just changed my insurance to that address and that was enough lol

Does the ECU compensate for the loss of cats? Thats going to make a huge flow impact and screw with the AFRs

The ecu just takes feedback from sensors and uses the data to select information from various arrays.

It does not compensate for loss of cats, it will compensate for changes to AFR readings though. But it won't screw with anything because it will be tuned.

You basicly said the ECU does not compensate for the catS missing and then you said it can... obviously the ecu is not going to clean the damn air but your saying it will correct the AFRs To the correct ratio after the cats have been removed and replaced with a faster flowing pipe?
I have always been taught that if you put an aftermarket exhaust system or modify the exhaust in a form where the flow is significantly faster ‘like removing the cats’ that you need a Dyno Tune because the ECU can only compensate/adjust so much. Maybe this is a motorcyle thing as i am coming from the sportbike community. Please help clarify this for me because i do plan to get an exhaust for this truck because you and many other have said this truck is really choked up..

I had to edit this- Since 1.05 has been released do you have any more information you can share on the turbos? Any updates? :)
