    Reserected from the dead.
    I know for a fact there is less than a 1/8" difference between 1st and 3rd gens widths of beds. I've never measured a 2nd gen.

    I'm with you on the hi lift. That's just asking for trouble. But I can see the value of them on the hood for on the trail. In the mtns they get used a bit out here. Although I'd keep them on the roof for travel and then relocate them to the hood for wheeling so I didn't have to keep jumping up to the roof
