I need to replace the intermediate shaft in our Camry. The dang thing clunks so bad every time you turn the wheel. They had a TSB for it, but I missed the window of eligibility on it. I was able to track down a weird grease filled needle toyota was using to inject more grease into the joint and it quieted it down for three or four years, but the clunk is back with a vengeance.

I bought this one because I needed it in a pinch (can be found on rockauto for cheaper)

Dorman 950-001 Axle Bearing and Hub Assembly https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07964N71G/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_zDy2BbJVJNRMR

But I also have one of these on the way because they’re much higher quality. I’ll swap it out when it arrives and carry the dorman as a spare.

I’m so thankful I work where I do. We don’t have to worry about any of that typical sailor stuff. There’s workers for everything.

I'm out of the office this week. If my desk is dirty when I get back I am going to grab the first Navy guy I see, Randy, and make him clean my desk. Haha. :boink:

I know there is an emotional attachment to the truck, but if the insurance wants to total it and they offer you a fair pay out...take it! Speaking from experience here. My truck was right at the threshold of total loss, but my insurance company elected to fix it. I went 10 weeks without it, and the old adage "it will never be the same" holds true. It is very obvious it has been repaired (affecting the value) and there are just things that aren't the same. For example, the body shop could not match the factory finish on the fender flare. So as a remedy they repainted all of them. A taco conesure would easily be able to notice this detail. My driverside headlight doesn't sit quite level anymore, which is obvious now because I installed projectors, I have an aftermarket radiator because Toyota doesn't sell the oem one ( at least that is the line I got from the body shop)

All these things might sound minor, but I know you care about your truck like I care about mine. They add up and are annoying over time.

I would have much rather had to pay a few grand out of pocket after having them total it so I could have purchased an unwrecked truck a few model years newer in a similar configuration.

    Alright lair...I need input...

As most of you know, my wife and I have been vehicle shopping for several months.

    My wife had expensive taste.

We currently own an 08' Tacoma (123k miles) and an 08' Camry SE V6 (123k miles).

The plan had been to buy my wife a new car and sell the Camry. However, the topic came up that we may be better off selling the Taco as it is worth about double what the Camry is and we have somewhat outgrown it anyway (towing needs and family friendliness) 2 kids in car seats doesn't leave much waterproof cargo area.

The truck needs work. 120K maintenance services, trans service, front diff seal, new LCA's and Cam tabs, tires, rear leaf packs are garbage, and if it were going in for an alignment, it would get a new 3" lift front and rear at the same time.

My question is, should I dump several K into the truck and keep it. Or should I sell it as is now. If it were to be sold it would be replaced with a new T4R or slightly used Tahoe...and I would start driving the Camry so my wife could have the 3 row SUV.

I agree 100% Dan. If I scratch or dent it that's one thing but if someone else bangs it up and it needs major work I don't ever want to see it again. By the time the tow truck pulls away I am already surfing he web for the replacement or newest model. But that's just me.

New 4Runner. Hands down, that is, if that fills your needs. If you haven't test driven one, do that.

Hey Tyler, PM me your email address when you get a chance. I asked Randal to PM me both his and yours but he blew me off. All he cares about lately is his movie star status and film career.

How ya been? Finish that Jack yet? LOL
