2nd Gen. Tacoma exhaust - will it fit any 2005 - 2015 Tacoma?

I am going trough new to me 2nd gen. Tacoma and it has Flowmaster exhaust and it's annoying as ... Only time when it sounds good is when you have pedal to the metal, but how much of that can you do. All the other time there is massive noise in cabin. Solution would be to get a stock exhaust and call it day.

So the big question is will any 2nd gen. stock exhaust fit any 2005-2015 Tacoma or there are years where exhaust configuration was changed by Toyota? Mine is 2012.

    Thank you!

You are going to need an exhaust from a 2005-2012 model. You CANNOT use one out of a 13-15 model (without modification/exhaust work) because Toyota changed some of the hangar locations for some reason.. hope this helps some. Good luck, and welcome to TW!

I believe they are all compatible 2005-2015. The only differences are the bed length. Also I think there’s a difference between V6 and 4 cylinders.

Can be easily modified if you or a buddy can cut/weld.

    Thank you!

I didn't mention, but I have a 4.0L V6 Crew Cab, would I also need a exhaust from 2005-2012 Crew Cab or there are other cab configs that will have same exhaust?

Is yours a long bed or a short bed? (5ft vs 6ft bed)

If you have a long bed double cab, you will need one out of one of the same configuration. If you have a Crew cab short bed, you can use one out of that configuration, or out of an access cab truck with the v6

Yeah, you're going to need a stock exhaust out of a DCLB then.. You might post a thread in your local regional thread and see if anyone has one they're willing to sell. Lots of folks upgrade to aftermarket exhaust systems and then just have the stock one sitting around.

Not entirely true. Only the rear hanger differs and there are very simple/cheap solutions. I installed a TRD catback from a 13-15 and just had to have an exhaust shop weld a new hanger on... cost $20.

    Here's what a 13-15 rear exhaust hanger looks like on a 05-12:

Here's the cheap and simple solution - any exhaust shop can do this in ~5 minutes:

Edited my post above! Looks like an easy solution if OP stumbles upon a 13-15 DCLB exhaust. May be a good option as DCLB stuff is hard to come by at times

Fyi used 2016 exhaust on my 2010 . Had to use my front part were bolts to y pipe .Rear hanger is like 13-15 so that walker hanger would work . Picked up exhaust for $40 so so like we say in Hawaii ...wen chance um lol. Took off dynomax muffler didn't like the sound .

So yea OP looks like best bet is finding used double cab long bed exhaust . But condition might be a problem . Or 2016 exhaust with some small mods .Not sure 17-18 the same . Don't think the slip on pipe I tacked on is necessary with the band clamp if you buy a good band clamp . So one cut and new hanger and band clamp you can have newer rust free exhaust .

Long Bed Double Cab is a one of. SB Double Cab and LB AC are the same. So you might be better off finding / getting a stock muffler and having it installed in your existing pipe.

My son just installed the TRD catback exhaust from 2013-2015 to his 2005. Like people stated above the only difference appears to be the 90° exhaust hanger. So it DOES fit!
