My 2010 uses a 27F. Anyone know offhand if the cables are long enough to let you use a group 27? My battery is still going, but in checking, a lot of places do not keep a 27F.

Don't think so. Sears carries 27F.

Nope, cables are not long enough for a 27.

An old thread, but another 27F to add to the list that fits the 4.0L engine w/o battery hold down replacement. Someone recently indicated the Advance Auto 27F as well as Auto Zones Duralast fit as well. There are others I'm sure:

NAPA 27F Legend Lead Acid Battery.

The battery this NAPA 27F replaced was the factory original 27F - 49 months old. Rated CCA = 710A. Midtronics MDX 225 measured 507 CCA. Winters coming - not going to chance squeezing another yr. out of the original.

It better fit without modding. That’s what mine came with from the factory.

    ***ETA***
I just realized this was referring to 27F, not the 27. Apologies and salutations!

I picked up a Toyota battery from the dealership. 120 with my dead battery core .I know gel are more preferred but when I open my hood I like to see Toyota on my battery.

I thought the same until I read posts here about some after-market 27Fs being too tall.

Just about everyone but Walmart has 27Fs. The issue isn't availability, but the claim some have made that not all after-market 27Fs fit. I never understood that, as one might expect the dimensions to be very close across the different mfgs. I'm not going to argue with a guy who claims the one he bought did not fit.

Yeah finding a 27f at Walmart is proving very difficult for me around my parts.

The claim is definitely true. The Duracell 27f I bought from BatteriesPlus was about 1/2-1” too tall for the factory hook bolts. They weren’t long enough to compensate and thus had to make my own hold down and get new hook bolts.

just removed a factory Toyota 27F from 2013 trucky, and replaced with NAPA Legend 710 27F

the NAPA was just a hair too tall to be easy to tie down
and I had to press hard on the tiedown metal strap to make it
connect. once I got the 10mm bolt onto it I had to press with my hand to keep spinning
the bolt. I checked the 'fulcrum end' where the fixed j-hook was and did not see any stress
of the battery casing (I was fearing bending or cracking the casing) but all good so far...it is cinched
down and I cannot wiggle battery and no cracks or visible bending or visible overstress of the new battery case on the j-hook side

I reckon Toyota idea of '27F' dimensions are pretty much lowballed and all our
replacements are fine, it is Toyota that is messing up.

    basterds

anyway, napa legend 27f fits 2013, but it's tight on the j-hook side, factory strap OK just tighter

That's odd. I'm running a Duracell 27f and it fits fine.

The factory 27f battery in my 14 is made by Johnson Controls. They make most of the batteries made and sold in North America including Ac Delco, Motorcraft, some Interstates and many others. It should be easy to find one that will fit without modification. I just sold a 27f Ac Delco for a 2017 Tundra this morning and it fit fine.

My Napa fit the same way, I too was afraid of it cracking. Nothing yet, had it for about 4 months.
