I guess the way I should put it is

Would you keep investing in something that’s old, investing in something that’s new.

By invest, I mean dumping money.

Thanks for the advice. I just sat down and did all the numbers, and it seems that I could go 35's, long travel, and still have money saved up for investments/maintenance.

I believe that is the route I will take and keep my truck.

Paid $23,100 brand new... In 2018 alone... Off the top of my head... Parts only... No labor... Not including maintenance... Spent approx.

$600 on Rancho 9000's in March, they sucked, tossed in May, spent approx. $500 on Dobinson's to replace them, MaxTrac's I forget somewhere around $800-$900, $2400 for Amp off-roads and Cali Anarchy's, $650 on custom aluminum one piece driveshaft.

2017, most of the year it was parked.

2016, did FJ engine, radiator, hoses, went through brake system. Sure there is more.

2015 FJ Wheels, KM2's 2006 to 2012-2015 front cap, whole body gone over, all dents removed, whole truck repainted OEM Sand Pearl.

Getting hard to remember after that... Lol!

So, I may be bias, but yes, worth putting money into to having YOUR truck :)

Think about t like this, you can have a "brand new condition 2006" worth not a whole lot when reselling or "used" 2014, you start over with, that if you do all of those mods will not be worth a whole lot. If you didn't want to start chopping it up, just bolting on parts, resale value would be an issue. Once you start chopping year doesn't really matter.

You really arent "investing" when it comes to modding your truck. The old man in me thinks you should be concentrating on your future. Do you have a 6 month emergency fund, zero credit card balance , paying down student loands and a future house fund, I wouldn't even consider dumping money into a truck. End of old man rant. The way you manage your money in your 20's and 30's will make a significant difference when you are older.

You have a sick truck as it is. And its a known entity.

First of all, modifications are NOT investments, they are the oposite. Your throwing money at a depreciating asset.
You are losing money, not gaining money.

There is nothing wrong with mods but you can’t call them investments.

Having the money for a new vehicle means being able to pay cash and the vehicles value does not exceed 50% of your income.
If you meet both of those do what ever you want!

I Like the idea of a newer 2nd Gen to keep longer and super white is the coolest color evar!

But use caution when going to a short bed. You may regret trading down.

I actually do have all of the above - Started managing my money and investing in my youth as I was blessed with the opportunity.

And as I stated earlier: “By invest, I mean dumping money.” lol.
