    Yeah gotta have low-temp wiring too, been there done that haha

    Do you’ve got the block heater AND a trickle charger......hmmm might consider that too.

    Yes, I know some people use a battery blanket but i find this the best. All cords are -50 or more rated also so they have some flexibility in them.

    I researched and compared a bunch of AGM batteries, northstar got better reviews than odyssey overall in testing. I needed the best I could find for up here.

    It was a lease and we needed a back seat. Gave the keys back early no penalty to another guy.

    I bought an oem block heater for about $50. Easy to install in less than an hour.

    Your truck will start without it, but will get better fuel econ, less wear, and cab heater will work faster with one.

    Would anyone recommend a good supplier for an aftermarket block heater for the 2.7? Or, should I stay with an OEM block heater? I have the 2018 SR5 4X4 2.7 I4, and do not currently have a block heater.

    It was a real feel of -51 when I got up this morning, the Tacoma was not very happy this morning. Dealer wants $250 to install a block heater, not sure if its the coolant or oil heater though. What did everyone else pay for the block heater installed?

    I live in Northern Canada and had my Toyota dealer install the OEM block heater last November. Cost was $177.99 for the part and $139 labour (1 hour) plus tax came to $358 total.

    In my opinion it's worth the extra expense vs a DIY block heater. It has a special plug integrated with the bumper so if you back out of your driveway and forget to unplug, it'll just pop out. It also includes a cord for the special plug that stays flexible even at today's -40 degrees.

    There is no OEM block heater made by Toyota....and the USA dealers have o get the part in from Toyota Canada......and the V6 one was recalled in Canada last year. So I'd make sure you do your homework on the 4cyl version.

    Some of us are trying to get the V6 ones sorted on this thread

    Can anybody tell me the exact blocker heater part number to use for the 2009 TRD OR V6 made in Canada? I ordered the
    $68 KAT'S 11813 Engine Heater Cartridge
    KAT'S 11813 on Amazon because their website, NAPA, CarQuest and eTrailers.com all state that it's a fit.... but it's not. I read a few pages on this forum that part #'s PU140-00902 (Canadian) and 00113-00213-00902 (US) have been replaced with other part numbers. It's the element that has a flat surface down the length of it and a silicon plug that is at a 90-degree angle. When I bought the truck in Nov 08 I had the dealer install one, but now I can't find a replacement. Thanks in advance.

    So update: I found that my heater element was find and the cord was not. I cut off the male power plug at the end, cut a few inches off and put a new one on from Ace Hardware for $5. Works!

    My truck will start when I forget to plug in at -40F, but it’s a LOT happier when it’s plugged in for a couple hours in the morning below 0F. Block heater, pan heater, and battery pad. Plan to swap the pad for a trickle charger when I get a Northstar AGM battery.

    Dog hair, metaltech 4x4 rocksliders, KBVooDoo bed risers, Smittybilt RTT, 3” spacer lift (Removed!), caliraised ditch lights, amazon rock lights, OVtune, Skewp
    Anyone having engine noise on cold start - ticking specifically? Mine never used to, but at 38k it’s started, and i suspect it’s from oil starvation from running the motor at an extreme angle trying to escape when i’d accidentally drove it off a cliff.
    Quiet as usual once warm
