you could bypass it all together. It does help get the oil up to temperature faster. But certainly not needed if you aren't in a cold climate.

Thanks. I live in southern California so not in any cold temps. Coldest ill be in would be when winter camping and that's prob into the low 30s maybe teens if I end up in parts of Utah. so far coldest has been Bryce in December and I think that was 3F at night. but that was only once. I am just looking to avoid the strawberry milkshake if possible.

Dealership couldn’t think of anything off the top of the heads after listening.

I need to learn how the auto transmission works I guess, cause I have no idea.

Whatever’s making the noise is rubbing something or something is out of balance and getting rubbed.

    Atleast that’s what I think.

Temp of the tranny fluid. it runs into the radiator to "cool" it but it also heats it up in the mornings when its cold to operating temperature. Pretty minor point though.

Yea it’s pretty tough to keep up, even with the engine just idling. I found it easier to remove the belt and put an air ratchet on the power steering pump. Use that to turn it instead of the engine and it’s a lot easier to keep up.

For snorkels I don't know for a fact but I'm saying no, you shouldn't need CARB approval for it. You only need CARB approval if you are modifying anything emissions related. Modifying anything between the air filter & the engine is altering emissions, well these days. Technically you can modify the intake system if the parts do not have any sensors or emission related components hooked up to it. But nothing modern will fall into this category.

Just like you don't need CARB approval for cat-back exhaust systems since they are not altering emissions. Only noise is a issue for legality. I have a deckplate mod on my stock airbox & I've never failed the visual for it, not even with STAR (used to be Test Only) every 4 yrs & they are much stricter.

I've passed CA state referee on my old car with a missing intake resonator (goes before the stock airbox) & modified exhaust. State refs are strict as fck. I left on only one aftermarket part that required a CARB sticker, the header, which in the end he had to fail anyway. Refs don't just look at the CARB number & pass it like regular smog stations. They actually look up the CARB number & verify it's for the year & model vehicle as well as check the part number on the part. He mentioned that my exhaust was too loud but did not fail me cause it's not emissions related.

With that said, a snorkel is no different than when I had a missing airbox resonator on my prev car. There's no airbox resonator on trucks, only resonators on the intake tube. We only have the tube in the fender which essentially acts like a resonator. And the snorkel attaches to that so no CARB approval needed.

I still think you should check that caliper you mentioned.

Yeah idk. I know its considered the cooler actually. The bottom part of the radiator is for the tranny but there is still heat transfer.

Installed the Kings up front, Dakar Pack out back. I may pull a leaf and dial the front down a bit as I picked up 3" in front and 2" in back. Maybe it is me but the wheels look out of place (too small for the lift).

I am going to give it a couple days and see if it grows on me. If not, I will pull a leaf.

Bring down the front a bit. Then snag some relocation plates for the Dakars so it'll line up in the middle of the wheel well and it'll look perfect

The leafs will settle quite a bit. give it a few weeks. The relocaton plate will help with the tire location for sure.

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!
That's not true. There is no CARB related equipment before the intake. You are not making any alterations to the equipment by adding a snorkle. There is no reason a snorkle wouldn't pass.

I know people who have failed because of the deck plate mod. Like I said, it depends on the SMOG tech.
