After the update on my 2018, I noticed an improvement in the driveability, but it was not earthshattering. It still hesitated and bogged, but maybe not as bad, and the shifting was improved (didn't feel like my synchros were crashing anymore). After about 1000 miles, it driveability feels similar to what it was before the update, but the shifting is still improved. Maybe it is different for the 2017's.

Honestly, if I had to fight hard for the update with my dealer, I wouldn't feel it was worth it. As it was, it took less than 45min of my time.

Told them about both steering surge and power surge 30-40. Said the tech hooked up and no update available. I believe it was an auto transmission only response if I remember correctly. I did not have TSBs with me nor did I reference the specific TSB numbers.

It sounds like they were looking at TSB-0058-18. As was said, there should have been a glowing button on TS that told them an update was available. Other folks have said that dealers refused to apply it even though an update was shown as available because it was noted to be for ATs. TSB-0058-18 has software for 2016s, but neither TSB directly discuss 2016s.

My registration papers never came in for my truck, so had to redo my date for my inspection for after my Honeymoon. So I'll be in after Nov. 14th when I get back. Will update then. Called them ahead of time though, and explained the situation to them, making sure to say "Other dealerships are doing this for Manuals because they are reading further down on the TSB seeing it's for Manuals also. Am I going to be able to get this done at your dealership, as I've seen others have been denied? Or is it going to be a big disappointment as always, and I'll need to go elsewhere in order to get this done, and if that's the case, I won't be purchasing anymore vehicles from you, as I've spent over $120k in vehicles in the past couple years, and I don't think it's much to ask" She stumbled on the phone for a moment, and said to bring the truck in and she'll see what she can do. So... I guess we'll see. If not, I'll get it done elsewhere, an blast them on every review site I can find for it.

I find it amazing that a tech does a healthcheck and sees in the update 'box" has a big YES and then refuses to do the update. There is no way that the Techstream would allow an update if it didn't apply to your vehicle. The dealership and tech actually gets paid to do these updates and its really easy work.

To me, it feels reduced a bit. I'd call it pretty much liveable now.

I'd say same. i can bring it reliably but it's not as off/on obnoxious as before. it was never a big problem for me tho.

I have an appointment Thursday afternoon at Labadie Toyota in Bay City, MI. Going in for oil change, tire rotation and update. I will have both TSB's in hand

Before some of you got the update could you make you truck surge all the time? My will only do it sometimes. I tried multiple times yesterday and it wouldn't do it. The rev hang is all the time and it dtives me nuts

This describes my situation - it would not surge/hesitate all of the time, but definitely more when the engine was cold (as cold as it would be in Kansas summers, before the temperature gauge went to the normal range). The rev hang drove me nuts as well - I would feel the synchros crash unless I compensated for it.

Get the update done. It doesn't eliminate it completely but 90% gone.

It wasn't all the time, but since this discussion started, I found that I could make it happen on command. TW syndrome. :D

For me it was more about the weird, very focused shifting and inconsistency that bothered me most.

Finally got the update done. The service advisor knew about the TSB and said they'd take care of it no problem. It's definitely smoother and worth the hassle
