I got my pro for a steal. No way I would pay 50 plus like the guys out west. Coming from a modded sr5 2nd gen that I did everything myself, the pro smokes it. It’s turn key ready to go.
No fuckin with anything just drive it. Gets from point a to point b like any other vehicle. It all comes down to personal taste. I’m at the age where I wanna fish and hunt more then mod my truck. Both are more then capable in stock form.
I see offorads and sports daily, have yet to see another pro in my area. I wanted it, could afford it, and have no regrets.

 

It’s always about personal choice. Easy if you know what you want. Nice truck!

 

I was contemplating the same thing, ended up going with an OR w/ Tech/Premium. Planning on getting a lift and tires once I pay it off anyways. And after 3 days of two tracks and powerlines last weekend I am thoroughly impressed with the capabilities, even with the stock tires this truck is phenomenal off road (as long as you stay out of the deep mud). I think I converted a few of my hunting buddies to the Toyota side this weekend

Pro is the better truck, end of story.

Can you build/mod an Off Road to look better and out perform a Pro? Sure, but good luck.

You will likely be giving away some of that warranty on a new truck and will likely not have the return on your “investment” than you would with a Pro.

Also, pray / hope that the mods done work as intended for you. As many people in here report back that they don’t, or are dissatisfied with the mods. So you better have 2 out of these 3 (time, money to spend or skill to work on vehicles) to make your upgrades work.

Overall, if you have the money, Pro is a much nicer base to start with. There is just no arguing that, unless you are jealous or insecure.

I don't think this will afford you an Off Road or a Pro

 

I won't even consider a Pro unless they come out with an AC or DCLB version.

That little box on the back is just too limiting for me no matter what suspension is on it.

2nd gen OR and Pros only came with a shortbed, that's why I stayed away from them too.

I spent 12 years with a 1st gen DC and every day wished I had more room in the bed. Since getting a 3rd gen OR DCLB, I've never thought I now have too much.

I went from a 8ft bed on my Cummins, to a 6.5 bed on the second Cummins, to long bed on my 2nd gen, to a short bed on my pro. The pro does everything the other 3 trucks did but it’s easier to park haha. Can’t say I would wanna go any smaller then this one.

I have purchased MANY cars (Like 25+) and NEVER EVER paid a dime over MSRP. Honestly I think in all those transactions I maybe paid MSRP 1 or 2 times and it was because the way the dealership wrote it up, once I agreed to pay MSRP (on paper) if they gave me an extra 2k on my trade in and they agreed. Another was a desireable car (high demand, it was marked 5k over, I paid MSRP and got them to throw in extended warranty and free car washes for a year + 10 tanks of gas free)

Even if a dealer sells you a car at INVOICE they still make money there are other funds available to them like holdbacks and factory incentives etc. Paying over MSRP is pure insanity.

 

Same here. Although, I had to order my Pro (dec 15th can’t come soon enough) to get it at MSRP. I mentioned this in another thread, I wish direct to customer sales where a possibility from the company. Tesla does this. Only downside would be the loss of haggling for a lower price.

 

Same, ordered my PRO... MSRP (I will still get some add ons comped at the dealership though, or not pay the "processing fees" or "destination fees" maybe get an extended warranty, I guarantee that!)

 

In my region, a few dealerships marked up the Pro, but most sell at MSRP. Can't remember if Pros are excluded from incentives, but believe so.

I'm doing this from memory so bear with me.

$46k MSRP for pro.
$40k MSRP for OR.

I paid $36k but add ons totaling about $2k so really like $34k.

That was 25% less.

Maybe keeping the pro at MSRP was a tactic since they didn't have one on the lot.

$46k would have got me .TRD OR 4runner fully decked out.

 

I don't understand the comparison between a Tacoma vs a 4runner. Two different trucks with different use cases. Additionally, a TRD Pro Tacoma should be compared to a TRD Pro 4runner if you're comparing price.

 

My ‘15 OR did not have the home link mirror. I called the local dealership and it’s $783. I can’t imagine how expensive the 3rd gen mirror is.
