    Hello TacomaWorld!

I am looking to join your ranks in Tacoma ownership, but was wondering if you guys could give me any advice on my options.

I am pretty set on a Magnetic Gray double cab PreRunner. I live in Atlanta, and don't plan on doing much off-roading, so I figured RWD would be fine.

I was planning on getting a 2010 TRD Sport with the towing package. No other options. (Except maybe DRL)

Is the JBL Audio package worth it?

Should I wait for the 2011?

Am I missing anything you would recommend?

    Thanks!

I think the general consensus is that the JBL isn't worth the money. It's a bigger hassle to upgrade, and some people who get it don't think it sounds that great. Personally, I have the base CD player and 6 speakers, and think it sounds fine for a stock system, but if I ever upgrade it, it's much easier than if I had the JBL.

RIP to my 08 Prerunner DC
I would go with a TRD off-road. IMO I messed up not getting 4x4 or TRD off-road. If I was you I would wait a month or two to try and get a good deal on a 2010.

Everyone has an opinion and mine is I strongly dislike extended warranties and paint protection and other add ons from the dealer. More trouble than they are worth. These are cash cows for the dealers

I agree with this, but for some people it's worth it. Just make sure that if you get an extended warranty, get one through Toyota. I personally don't like making the vehicle more expensive than it already is. Plus, new cars already come with a warranty and you can always buy an extended warranty later if you feel you might need it. JMO.

If you ever have to pick a trailer up in your yard, or some where it's muddy, you will wish for a 4x4.

paint protection? sounds like something they charge you for and you get nothing extra...the paint on our trucks is crap
    just wax it real good;)

why would he want the off road if he said he wont be off roading?

it doesnt snow in GA (i dont think) so probably no need for 4x4 either..

I strongly agree with this statement. Those are big money makers for the dealers.

You're in ATL, so you won't really NEED the 4x4, but I would get it if I were you. I know it snowed around Kennesaw last winter, not sure how much y'all got in ATL, but it's better to have 4x4 and not need it than to need it and not have it. I'm up in North GA and hunt and stuff so I use my 4wheel drive all winter. If you ever plan on taking it anywhere in the mountains in the winter, get the 4wheel drive.

It was a crazy winter! I can't remember seeing that much snow in GA before. I work at The Weather Channel and we got a lot of crazy video of people struggling in the icy conditions. I am tempted to go 4x4, but I don't think I would use it enough to justify extra cost.

needing it just once is enough to justify the extra cost imo. Plus, its always fun to bust some trails every now and then. There's a nice off-roading spot in Lithonia, next to Stonecrest mall.

BUT do what YOU want, or you won't be happy no matter what.

I was able to get a price of $2,200 below invoice through zag.com. I assume that is a pretty sweet price, but I also just wanted to confirm that.

JBL is great. one of the better audio systems from the factory. I only thing i recommend is the 4.0L 6speed and 4x4.

It is about a $3k difference. So, while it would be a nice to have, it is hard to justify IMO.

Having 4X4 is like having insurance! "In case shit happens!" JBL option sucks, build your own system.
