I'm just a realist living in a fantasy world ya know :)

The cheapest way is def to make your own switch setup for sure. The FJ tube is a great option IMO for those that have an actuator that already is on it's way out. I broke my front diff a couple years ago that's why I went to the FJ tube. If you have a working front actuator, you could recoup some of your costs of the FJ tube by selling the actuator, new they are 300 so you could probably get $150 or so for a working used one.

Kind of an old post, but was a solution ever found for this problem?

The front range shifter looks pretty strong and well made other than the boots tearing.

The shifter is worth it, but I would just keep an eye on the boots after a few years. The replacement boot is slightly different material. I barely drive it anymore so we will see how long it lasts. If I was daily driving it I would try to use some carpet pad to insulate the assembly from exhaust heat as I think that was what led to the failure. Or modify something like this to go over the boots.

Looks like the two main options for a twin stick are Front Range and Dave'z. Anyone care to share their experience with either one? The cost is about the same.

The one from Front Range looks very strong and maybe rebuildable, or at least take apartable:

The thing the Dave'z one has going for it is that it looks totally sealed without relying on a boot:

The boot tore on my FROR sticks while I was on vacation, 6 hours from home, and leaked horribly. Had to stop and check my fluid level periodically. I wish I had just used the factory single shifter, twin sticks just weren’t worth it for me.

Marlin used to make a nice twin stick. I don't think they make anything anymore though lol

I have the Davez unit setup for a triple stick - took forever to get and their customer service is questionable at best. Never did get the shift knobs for it. Fortunately Ant had some blanks he didn't need & I used those.

I didn't see anything on Marlin Crawler's site either.

The Rad ones look nice but I only saw triples for the chain drive case.

I'm honestly liking the sealed-upness of the Dave'z shifter.

I would email him he may do twin sticks as well, I have a marlin twin stick but that was many moons ago when him and Wyatt were first dabbling with the twin sticks on the chain cases

Honestly, I wouldn’t have gone twin sticks if I had thought about it more. With the crawl box, I have 2wd low. So having twin sticks is kinda pointless

x2, and even if RAD won't make the twinstick, it wouldnt be to tough at all to weld some shifter handles. The FROR twinstick is nice, just removed it to replace with a RAD setup for a crawlbox otherwise I'd still be running it. Didnt have any issues with the boot either.
    20180928_201253.jpg

You can see where the 2 rod ends are and how they bolt to the individual shift rails. So instead of bolting you could easily weld some 1/2" rod and have a twinstick setup. Plus, I think RAD does sell the chain drive bases separately instead of having to buy the whole kit.

    Just checked, yup they do.

Just picked up my FJ case! It’s really clean, I’ll try to get some pics up soon.

One thing I noticed is a bit of play in the input shaft. Both front and read outputs are rock solid but if I grab the input and wiggle up and down, like 12 o’clock to 6 o’clock, I feel a bit of movement. A few thousanths for sure. Is that normal?

That sounded way less suggestive in my head...

I'd like to know too. My input and rear output have a little, supposedly 70k.
