    That was awesome.

I see what you’re saying at all points. I went to tech school for 1 year and had a crippling student loan debt of $6k and now I have/will made $70k/yr for the past 2 years and $60k before that. But that’s working crazy hours and hurting my body daily.

The reason I’m looking into new paths is to save my back and use my brain more instead. Id much rather make $75k and wear clean clothes to and from work than have to bring 2 pairs with me every day just so I can drive home.

I don’t know which path I would take as I have pretty much already exceeded my families expectations of work/income and I should be “fine” especially for where I came from but I’m not the type to get comfortable and stay where I’m at. I’ve been a industrial welder/mechanic for 3 years now so it’s time to start looking.

I don’t know if I want to stay with welding like a weld inspector go up from there just cause it’s the field I know or if I’d be good at something else. I haven’t had many “careers” so I don’t know what else I should try. I just figured I’d look into engineering since I like building stuff tbh and love knowing how stuff works and how it could work better. Like the day @SMKYTXN told me about how putting gussets on the side of the tube rather than the middle actually makes more sense. That was awesome and I would love to learn more stuff like that.

I'd say look into starting at a JUCO to save money then transfer into a 4 year school. Even having an associate's is better than nothing. APPLY FOR EVERY SCHOLARSHIP YOU COME ACROSS!!

Financial aid can be pretty useful too. Look at Pell grants/FAFSA (based on tax returns) and other grants. Don't get loans unless you absolutely positively need them.

    When are you moving?

This project was through the Advanced Material Laboratory run buy Jacobs. My classmate/team member runs the lab. It was a great experience and I was pending multiple nights a week there building it. I'm really surprised it didn't lead to any type of job offer.

We are waiting for new orders. Her schooling didn’t go as expected so they’re putting her in a new career. She already met with the board and now she has to meet one more time to pick a new career. Should happen any day.

Then 4-5 months of schooling and then she will be assigned a home base and that’s when I’ll be moving with her. So it sounds like a ways away but we all know life happens quick.

Which is why this has been on my mind too cause the military housing allowance and all that will ease the bills on both of us and that should make it a little easier to breath and go back to school. Plus one day I’ll want kids and I want to be as “prepared” as I can. I know I’ll never be “ready” but having more income or a career that I can move up in would make it a little easier.

Meh. I’m used to working on the road and being away from home as well as traveling so it’s nothing I’m not mentally prepared for. That’s kinda what makes this one so easy.

I mean the hoops some commands make you jump through before approving the request. My past commands used to make couples go through x amount of marriage counseling and financial planning before signing off on it.

    In Arizona, it’s typical.

I’m not sure about that. I think this is an “ask a cop” moment.

This would probably cause more trouble than it's worth unless it's for a show vehicle and is added at the show. If the shotgun has a full stock then modifying the barrel to anything shorter than 18.1 inches or overall length of 26 inches makes it a SBS if I remember correctly.
