Kind of figured something similar would happen. The truck was a nice build but there were things I would definitely change.

It also has Kings listed in the description but Fox in the pictures, as others have stated.

All raffle's must be registered with the government, and are strictly regulated. They are for Charity use only.

There is a fad lately in the overland realm, especially on instagram, to raffle off old gear (trailers, trucks, etc). Basically, they make the rules to be something along the lines of "$100/ticket, raffle will be drawn once 500 tickets are sold" or something to that effect. Basically, they are walking away with $50 000+ for a $35 000 truck, trailer, whatever. Defconbrix and TheWildYolo are two popular instagramers who have gotten away with this scam.

This is the California law, but most states/provinces are the same: https://blink.ucsd.edu/sponsor/advancement/advancement-services/gift-processing/list/raffles.html

"If participants are required to purchase a ticket in order to have a chance to win a prize, the drawing is subject to the provisions of Penal Code section 320.5 and related regulations as a raffle."

"According to State law, all raffles must be registered with State of CA at least 60 days before holding the raffle."

"All raffles must comply with the “90/10 rule” where 90% of the proceeds must go to charity and only 10% of the proceeds may be expended winnings or raffle related expenses. "

    Haha.
    True.

But @WormSquirts raises a valid point.
This selective enforcement of the laws is Bullshit.
    They should be held accountable

Haha yeah, it just really annoys me how many instafamous people are doing this lately and taking advantage of people. Went on a bit of an awareness crusade! Definitely would be sick to win though!

Although I agree with the fact that how they run it is probably in the grey area, I doubt someone with such a broad presence on social media would hold a "raffle" if it was illegal. There are way too many eyes on them for whistle blowing not to occur.

Seeing his Instagram post looks like he pulled the long travel off the Tacoma and put it on his FJ, and now put the Kings that were on the FJ onto the Tacoma.

Not sure how they did it, but if PayPal even smells a raffle, they will shut down your account. That's why a lot of IG people call them "waffles" these days

    It's basically gambling, yes.

A sweepstake or contest, on the other hand, can be entered without paying.

Kind of looks like he liked the FJ more than the Taco. At least he actually wheeled the Taco a little before making his decision.

Social media would be a deterrent to illegal actions? Social media is the fucking cause, mate, and it is simple enabled by the willful ignorance on behalf of the senders and receivers. Respect for the rule of law and responsible communication died a grisly death in this country in November 2016.

I get it, sorta.... But it's super hard for me to care about people willingly paying for a chance at winning his truck. There are worse things. If you've ever bet on sports or played fantasy sports for money outside of Nevada then you've probably broken a similar law. But what do I know... Raffle law isn't my forte, I specialize in bird law.
