I bought my truck new over 400 miles from home. Was thinking about driving my 2nd gen and towing the 2nd gen home with the 3rd gen. That would have been unwise on a brand new vehicle. So as usual I rented a 1 way car to go get it. Drove it interstate all the way home at 60-70 mph. Not an issue. At 20k miles it is still fine. Same for my last 2 new ones. Bought them hundreds of miles from home and drove them home. No issue. In fact I came close to flying 1200 miles to get one and drive it home but found a better deal closer to my home state.

Don’t worry about it. I had 1,000 miles the first week. 95% highway at 80+ mph. I wasn’t revving the crap out of it but I wasn’t exactly gentle either. I also exercised the 4wd heavily by doing some awesome trails in Colorado. I’ve yet to have any issues with any new cars/trucks. You won’t either.

Drove mine brand new with 7km on it with a 700km-ish (435mi) drive back home, all highway. I've owned it for a month...I constantly worry about if it did prevent it from a better break-in but no one at the dealer sales rep, or person setting me up with the vehicle/delivery said anything about a break in at all or recommended specs for break in. I think she'll be fine.

2019 Tacoma Off Road, Double Cab, Short Bed, automatic w/Technology package, in White.

Even on 2019's, one dealer can go $500 below and one can go $1000 below invoice.

    Good deal?

As the 2018s disappear, I expect the discounts to be less on 2019.

That being said, Nov. is a slow month. The right dealer won't let you walk if you make them an offer they still make money on.

Remember, not all dealers think alike. Some have discount strategies meant to maximize profit per vehicle, others care about total profit for the month.

So selling you something, is better than selling you nothing at the second dealer.

After seeing the number of $5-6k MSRP discounts many have reported here, I must admit to being a bit disappointed in my $2k MSRP discount. Well, I’m enjoying the ride even though I paid more than others, and I guess my salesman appreciates me even more than I originally thought.

ecl, I'm also looking at a 2019 off road. Can you say what that is in real numbers? What was invoice?
    Thank you.

Two dealers so far have offered me less than 5% off MSRP on 2018s in CT which is disappointing. I didnt haggle as Im not sure I want to purchase, but disappointing.

With the 18's drying up, 19's are the only option. At this point, might as well wait out late Dec when the dealerships will try to meet/break their year sales records and would be more willing for discounts.

We bought our 2017 GMC just after x-mas and it was the same deal. In NOV, barely any discounts since the 17's had just arrived in the lots but by end Dec, there were a lot of year end incentives. We were able to get ours almost the same price as discounted prev years.

Offered 35.5k, a few hundred more or less depending on port installed options.

For 2018 models, you should be seeing a price around 10-12% below MSRP before conditional offers and TT&L.
For those who have trouble with maths... move the decimal over one place to the left for 10% (e.g. 40,000. = 4,000. or 35,000 = 3,500).
    $40,000 -10% = $36,000 or $35,000 -10% = $31,500
    $40,000 -11% = $35,600 or $35,000 -10% = $31,150
    $40,000 -12% = $35,200 or $35,000 -10% = $30,800
    $40,000 -13% = $34,800 or $35,000 -10% = $30,450

I'm sure a tighter deal could be had, but I just purchased at what met my specs and conditions and was within my search area... 2018 DCLB OR w/Tech.... @12%. I drove ~100 miles for it.

If you're not too far from RI, might be worth checking Toyota of Smithfield. They gave me an online quote and honored it when I went in with no B.S. More than I can say for a few other local dealers who were either scammy or didn't care enough to respond to my detailed questions before I came in.

Also, I was really on the fence about this truck going into it. I was coming from an F150 and was concerned about the size and engine/trans issues you read about online. All I can say is I love this truck. They must have given me the transmission update because this thing performs very well. It also feels like a little tank, and is more fun to drive than the full size because it's not as bouncy and can actually handle and feels a little sporty which is great. (Compared to full size.) The cabin is small - I could throw a refrigerator in the back seat of my F150 - but it's not so bad. Might buy that tri fold tonneau for easy storage when I'm not using the bed for moving junk. But overall I'm enjoying it much more than my full size, which was just overkill for me.
