Dumb question. Am I missing something, but I cannot, for the life of me, figure out how to turn on the parking lights on a third gen?

 

you talking about the LEDs?

 

They advised me I could write off gas and mileage.

 

No, Just the amber ones. I could have sworn I saw another 3rd gen with them on the other day. I toggled thru every combination and they don’t seem to come on.

 

Kind of like this (not the fog light)

 

I’m sure there is an obvious answer that I’m missing.

 

Trd doesnt have them. We get led running lights.

You can write off vehicle expenses (fuel, maintenance, insurance, registration) OR mileage. You can't do both. Also, you can only do it if the total is >2% of your AGI and you itemize your deductions.
