    Noticed my spare was a little shaky when I hit it with the power washer this morning....

    Damn dirty fives are heavy!

    Tube is cracked about 80% of the way through. It would have fallen off already if not for the lower gusset.

    What hasn't been modified?
    Yepp, top and side of the tube even added to the old weld to the tube. Then grinder down the spots to make the angle iron to sit flat. Then welded it the whole length. Caught powdercoart on fire a few times also :bananadead:

    Just the passenger side. I nailed a rock last weekend and bent / twisted the shit out it. Flattened my cam tabs too.

    It’s probably time now with 35s. I honestly believe this one woulda cracked the weld and bent even with a gusset though.

    Cam tab gussets will happen first.

    Just did both of those. Not too bad of a project, at least on a 1st gen. I thought the old tabs were gonna be a pita to get off but were not bad.

    It’s about the same amount of work regardless of which generation Tacoma.
    I do not have the Cam tab gussets on my truck currently since they went away with the frame swap.
    The interesting thing is that the new frame has much stronger factory Cam tabs.

    It sounds like just a few spot welds holding them on...I was thinking some drilling on the weld and an air hammer with a chisel but would make short work of them.

    Should have been that way to begin with!

    My fronts were spot welded and the rears just had two short welds to cut through with a cut off wheel. Air hammer would definitely have made it better but it wasn't bad just using a pry bar and hammer.
