I have a 2004 Regular Cab 5 speed 2.7L and I want to put a 3" lift on it. I was reading up on ToyTec's website and it said a 3" lift is not recommended for a 2.7L Reg Cab. Why would this not be recommended? What could happen if I do lift it 3"? Thanks.

Youll get way more than 3". And it will ride like a brick. Tearing CV axles up too. Stick to a 2" lift.

I think they meant that particular 3" lift is not good for a 2.7l Regular cab because it's meant for the heavier v6 and/or double cab configurations. If you put that particular lift on your truck, you'd end up with more than 3" and that's no good for your 4x4 drivetrain.

Most people agree that you don't want to go over 3" with a coilover lift and 2" - 2.5" is the safer bet...once you get near 3 or more you run into extreme angles with your CV axles which can wreak havoc on them in short order, and other 4x4 components in the long run.

I agree that 881 coils are probably you're best bet for your truck...I used to run those but with an extra cab V6, I only got a little over 1 inch with them. You would probably get 2 - 2.5 inches out of them.
