Right? The immediate call for death reminds me of something you will hear in other countries, the same countries that hang fathers from cranes because they let their daughters read lol. I doubt anyone wants this girl to get off easy. 1st and foremost, truth and justice. Fairness.

Regarding number 2, that can be fixed. Might have to move a trailer or two and bulldoze a new entrance style.

Regarding number 3, the following article says otherwise. I have no idea if the article is factual. https://fox59.com/2018/10/31/driver-says-she-didnt-recognize-rochester-bus-until-it-was-too-late/

I feel sorry for the driver, the children in the Tacoma, the children that were killed, their families, all of the witnesses and first responders. The whole incident sucks.

First step is to get the facts straight. The REAL facts....Not those which are generated via a website that has virtually NOTHING to do with the investigative process. Once those facts are gathered, then due process takes place. This is still America. Even Charles Manson had his day in court.

I've read that particular article, as well as about 20 more. No two are the same.

This is EXACTLY why we have to wait until ALL the facts play out in a courtroom. There are 500 different versions of what happened. Every media outlet, every web page, every individual has their own set of "facts". Everyone needs to simmer down and quit holding the 2018 rendition of the Salem Witch Hunt.

And if the American people were not allowed to light up Tim Mcveigh or buy tags and hunt Guantanamo bay then certainly this girl gets her chance.

I’ll wager a lot on this too...no one that’s sober wouldn’t have been able to avoid this whatsoever. Sad. Being a parent, your heart breaks seeing this stuff and can’t help but worry for your own. You spend endless night awake raising them, then they’re taken away from you in a second, in vain.

I read the speed limit on the "highway" where the accident happened was 55 mph. Who ever heard of a bus stop on a 55mph road. That's just asking for trouble. And to top it off, the kids had to cross the street to board the bus. Not only should there not have been a bus stop on that stretch of road but the kids should not have had to cross 4 lanes of roadway to board the bus either. It was also reported that parents have been complaining for several years about the location of the bus stop. 3 kids killed - now they are moving the bus stop.

Unrelated but similar story of my own regarding moving a mailbox and the ridiculous bureaucracy involved in getting things changed (i.e. moving the bus stop). I live on a dead end street (no culdesac) with only 3 houses). My mailbox was on the other side of the main road that crosses my deadend. The mail truck only drove down this street one way, hence the mailboxes were all on one side which happened to be the opposite side for me. People had been killed getting their mail over the years on this road. No shoulders, blind curves, etc... My kids liked to get the mail after school and I did not want them in the street or crossing the road for that matter. I fought with the town for many years to get it done. I mapped out the town and found every deadend I could to find others with mailboxes on their deadends. USPS came up with every excuse they could think of. Drivers are not allowed to make 3 point turns to continue the route after a deadend so they only go down culdesac deadends. I found examples in town that killed that excuse. Then - they aren't allowed to make left turns unless there is a traffic light. And they aren't allowed to back up. All kinds of nonsense. We have UPS and FEDEX trucks come down my street. We have garbage and recycling trucks come down my street. We have DOT snow plow trucks come down my street. All manage to make it out without incident but the little USPS trucks are not allowed because it's their policy for everyones' safety. What about my safety and my kids having to cross the highly traveled country road to get our mail. Eventually it got moved with a petition signed by everyone else on the opposite side of that country road.

I grew up in a farm house on a highway in Southern Indiana where there was a 65 mph speed limit. We boarded a bus in the dark, on that road every day. It happens.

It was only a 2 lane road with double yellow line. Bus and Tacoma were traveling opposite directions.;)

It's stayed reasonably civil (so far) Had a couple respondents that were on the verge of trolling, but so far....so good. I'm amazed too.

You didn't grow up in the country obviously. 2 lane road. I got on at a similar road with 55MPH limit as well when I was a kid. One major difference is that when kids had to cross the road they had to wait for the driver to get out and signal to them to cross while they stood with a stop sign in hand checking traffic.

Apparently this is a big problem in America. Statistics reported this morning were,
Estimated 38,000 vehicles illegally pass a school bus every day. 3000 alone in the state of Indiana

I'm not a fan of totalitarian govt, but sometimes you have to hold people accountable.

Years ago in China, there was a company who sold infant formula. The executives of this company decided to make some extra cash by diluting down the formula, but this got detected, and they came up with a plan to use castor bean to trick the tests into making it look more rich than it was. Well a few hundred babies died.

The executives and the govt employees they bribed were give -1yr of life per incident. Since even in China they don't live to be 150 years old all parties were executed.

When was the last time we held any CEO or Govt bureaocrat to any level of accountability approaching that level?

I suppose my rant is related to the fact that it bugs me that the families had complained and were ignored by the administrators of the bus program. They should share in any culpability found due to a badly designed process.

HUGE difference between intentionally putting children at risk for fun and profit vs. accident. Yes, she needs to pay appropriately, no, not with her life (unless something shows up in tox screen)

The only case of accountability that I can think of is dieselgate? Some VW / Audi execs were arrested. I haven't followed closely enough to see if they got any real time out of it. It is interesting that I don't recall anyone from Bosch getting their feet held to the fire?

Obviously not a life and death issue. Just commenting on corporate accountability.
