no, you are referring to variable valve timing. the Otto Atkinson transition is more transparent.

Serious question my manual trans broes. I’m looking at getting a new 3rd gen V-6. I will be driving roughly 30k miles a year in the Bay Area stop and go traffic. Here’s the problem I have to wear large construction boots. Is life going to suck with a manual trans?

I miss my 4cyl Manual Tacoma, but at the same time I also don’t want to hate life.

Also, who unstickied this thread :spy:

The secret is to put the truck in 4LO and crawl in a traffic watching people behind hit the breaks all the time :canada:

I usually like to drive barefoot if I can in any car. But, I've driven the Taco in heavy traffic with everything from running shoes to hikers to street bike boots without a problem. If I had to pick, for whatever reason, the running shoes are the worst?

The pedal spacing including the dead pedal seems to be great for boots.

About a week ago I installed the URD short-throw shifter kit on my 2018 Offroad. The instructions had a lot of wrong information, misspelled words, and required different tools than what was listed in the required tool list. You also had to either drill holes in the floor or take the transmission out to complete the install. URD lies about this to make it seem easier to install to attract more business. After I finally got it installed, I don’t think I could go back to the way it was before. It feels like driving a sport car now.

Hey all my fellow manual transmission comrads, does anyone know if they make an adapter to go from an OM617a turbo diesel to an r155a bellhousing?

Installing the TRD short shifter on a 2nd gen was a piece of cake. No drilling or touching the floor at all.

I keep going back and forth with the URD shifter. I had an adjustable SS on our old saab. It was a huge improvement on the lowest setting which thankfully required removing the reverse lockout function. I did wish that I hammered on the exhaust tunnel a bit to drop it even lower.

That said, there are good and very questionable reviews about the URD quality and installation. It'd be great to get a more firm feel for it, and proper 3rd Gen instructions.

    Welcome.

It used to be stickied ... then it got unstuck. As a new guy you should take up the cause and get it stickied again!

Holy crap, that's almost a cross pollination with this thread now

I would try to to get smaller boots. Or larger pedals . (I know what it is like)

After driving a manual for so long, I'd rather be stuck in traffic with a manual over an automatic.
