It really was too bad, this is a great bumper and fits like a glove. I added a 9.5xps to the bumper and even it fit perfect. When I was looking into front bumpers I wanted to keep the look of the original Tacoma as much as possible. This is what pushed me to the lo-pro bumpers.

I had seen options for mounting the winch behind the original facia, I never saw any that looked quite right. I debated the SSO and the US Off-Road but when I saw this one I was sold. It's more than just a tray for the winch and does not stick out like the SSO. (Although I did debate the hoop, which was cool) for the price point this one checked all the boxes. Lastly, it came down to timing. I had been saving up the cash and right about the time I was ready Relentless responded and said they were building g a couple and asked if I still wanted one. No other GBs were on at the lime for the LoPro style so I went with this one. It's a great, solid, bumper.

I've been looking at the hidden winch mounts for months. I really dislike 95% of aftermarket bumpers and honestly really like the stock look. This lo-pro actually looks like something that may come stock. If you don't mind me asking, what did you pay for it? I've sent rentlentless an email and am waiting to hear back.

 

It was reasonable in comparison to what others were costing. I'll PM you when I find my receipt.

I'm still waiting on it. It turned out much more complex than anticipated. Its also the Ifirst one he had made. I do get updated on it about once a month now. Its also not unusual for custom work like this to take longer.

He has let me know that he wants it to be right on since he is not local there will be no way to adjust anything after it ships.

 

interested to see how it turns out. i was looking for some kind of "half cap" myself and was surprised to find nothing. seems like a perfect concept for roof top tents that doesn't affect wind resistance (mpg), lowers the weight of the rtt, and creates a lockable bed. i ended up with a really nice rack made by a friend in san jose. it's below cab height and i can still roll in mt bikes underneath. Not being able to see out the rear view when the tent is on will be the one disadvantage. The one I'm having built will be a hybrid part steel part aluminum. As I'm seeing it come together I think one or the other would have been better, but we will see. I'm hoping it will be finished soon. I am going to have it shipped directly to a local shop in Denver to be powder-coated.

Sold my Procomp Tires and Helldorados this week and decided to just stick with the sport wheels for my Blizzak snow tires (running 285/70 X17s) and Use my TRD Rock Warriors for the trails (255/80 X17s)

rocker switch. Way more convenient to have the switches in the cab that having to go and plug in the wired handle or rely on wireless.

 

Made a few orders for BF...

• BAMF 2nd Gen Tacoma Behind The Grille Light Bar bracket 05 to 18 (not sure what I want to add here yet either a 30" light bar or a couple of round lights, I'm still investigating options) There is a thread on this product if you are interested.

and

• "Lite Mount" - Winch Fairlead Light Mounting Bracket from Cascadia. (Ill be adding an Amber 6" here), likely a KC.

I'll have to add an sPod for switches soon... But first I'm itching for a rear bumper with a swing-out.

Been looking at Mobtown (with swingout), Relentless (with swingout), BruteForce (with Swingout) and Slee (with swingout).

• I really like the Slee but its pricy, no BF sales...
• I also like the new Mobtown, but the front Relentless slimline was so nice I am thinking that is a great option too.
• I have heard good things about BruteForce, and its by far the best in terms of cost.

I'd be interested in comments.

 

I do like seeing out the rear view... how did the tent up top impact mileage for you?

 

it definitely has an effect, but not as much if it was sticking up higher. i think i got a bigger mileage hit when i increased the weight of the tires. now it seems get between 17/21 depending on conditions. with a strong wind behind me, driving east across south dakota, i hit 23!

 

Decided to go with the 10" light bar for above the winch mount. (it will be the same length as the license place) Also picked up a set of 4" round LZR for behind the grille. I wanted to try out the round ones instead of the standard light bar. If it looks goofy I'll make them my ditch lights and get a bar for behind the grille. The BAMF mount I think will provide some good options. (just wish I could use a 30" light vs. 20"

I also decided to go with the Slee Offroad rear bumper. I liked the look best and the package deal was cheaper than the other options once you calculate shipping. (even with BF deals). They have none in inventory but will be restocked sometime in March or April. I have my name on a waiting list. (its cool that I don't have to pay up front and getting my name on the list is free!)

Now I am just waiting for everything to arrive so I can start the installations....

 

Your mileage is much better than mine. The best I have ever done is 20. My average is about 17 although with recent mileage (14-16) I am not sure how...

 

i found my mileage took a big hit when i switched from the lighter stock bfgs to the heavier coopers i'm now running. and i even went with the lower weight C-rated ones, not-E rated. tire weight made a big dif... but i'm doing mostly hiway miles for work, no rock crawling so the beefier, heavier tires made less sense for me...

 

BAMF behind the grill mount kit came today... Should have lights mounted soon.



Not much to it really. Looks like I just need to add some bolts and go. Its also a slightly different design than what is advertised but I have options for mounting now.

 

Here are some sPOD installation shots from this last weekend:

1. remove console and start to run wires (I didn't take any photos, but you will also have to remove the a-pillar and grab handle to run the wires down under the dash and through the firewall)



2. pull it down through fuse box then run it (carefully behind the wires along the side behind the kick panel.



3. Through the firewall. (it was a bugger and I taped the crap out of it so I could pull it through on a hanger)

 

4. Prep the source, you can mount it on the current fuse box or if you choose you can also pick up a power tray and just mount it there. (I liked the look)



5. Time to mark up the console and start cutting. I should have measured twice and I would recommend you not tape up the whole door. I was slightly off-center. Its not very noticeable, unless you are picky like me.

Also, I chose to mount the switches in the first sunglasses bay on the console. Now that its done I really don't care for it and I am looking for a new solution. (again I miss measured the angle when I had the console in the truck)



6. Cut and test fit.



I also picked up some switches from OTRATTW (these were just too vanilla for me).

 

7. Once the switches fit, time to put it back in the truck.
