New from East Coast Florida

Kinda weird since I don't own a Tacoma...yet.

Joined to gain info on them. I currently have a 2000 Jeep Wrangler, but really want a truck, don't want a ford or chevy.

Looked at a lot of used ones, but the prices are nuts and most have 100K+ miles. Thinking about a new one, but I hate payments. Took everything I had to pay my house off in 11 years, getting stuck with 5 years worth of payments on a truck is something I'm having a hard time with.

 

Greetings Kevin, these trucks are expensive but they hold their value and are a blast to drive. They aren't like your average domestic vehicle where a lift and tires is enough to beat the trail, these come ready to rock but they're literally hundreds of upgrades that can be done to make it the ultimate offered vehicle. just depends on your application, be sure to check out the builds sections to see what people have done to theirs and take some for a test-drive and ask every question you can think of to make a education decision. Only off roading I do is driving on the beach. I'm not into upgrades much, owning a Jeep and a Harley, you can spend great multitudes in add on's. Only thing I've done to my Jeep is went up one size in tires...31x10.5, and added a roof rack for surfboards.

Was just checking prices on my current car, if I sold it and Jeep, and added a couple few $K in cash I could get by with financing around $10K.

Local dealership has a 20 year, 200K mile nationwide warranty, I'm single so I really don't need 2 rides anyhow.

Got sold on Toyota when my folks were pulling a 32' Airstream with their 2005 Tundra, and did some unintentional off roading in 2009. Truck flipped end over end 5 times. He bought another new one in 2009, and it's going strong.

 

Well good luck on finding one that fits your budget. I'm down in Canaveral area and I know there are a bunch of us in FL. last weekend was the off roading meet a bunch of people went to. and also I know some people are trying to get a meet set up for next month in Lake Haven FL. ETsemaj is right I paid 15,000CAD for my 2008 TRD SR5 Sport A/C with 115,000Kms and it was a deal i couldn't refuse, I even took a loss on my 2014 jetta because the price was moderately good for the truck i was getting in return

I'd talked myself out of 5 years of payments, but yesterday I drove by the dealership and somehow ended up pulling in.

Talked to the sales dude, and told him what I wanted... 2018 access cab, V6, auto, dark gray, and 4x4. Damn these trucks aint cheap. Best I could work out was my Jeep, several thousand down. and 5 years at $350 a month. He didn't have what I wanted at his place, but said he could get it.

Dealership in St. Augustine includes 20 year 200,000 mile warranty. I asked if this was just at their dealership, and he said it's nationwide. Hell, I'll probably be dead in 20 years.

This is what I want, and may be driving in a few days.

 

Picked it up today. Has 57 miles on it right now.

What was Toyota thinking when they put red panels in the doors, and over the passenger air bag?

Dealer gave me the name of a place in Jax that will replace them for $250...2 doors and the air bag cover. Don't think the way it is will ever grow on me, but it was better than the butterscotch color he showed me.

Just came in from peeking under the hood. It scared me, and I walked away. Also found a library in the glove box.

Already ordered a roll up tonneau cover, OEM bed mat from Amazon, and the side window vent things. I had an appointment today to get the windows tinted, but their already Florida max legal.
