Pulled the bed rack and the RTT for the foreseeable future, and now I’m doing my best #j5 impersonation! @cynicalrider

I’ll be pulling the bed soon so I can get started on some rear suspension goodness and some frame reinforcement. Gotta get some front suspension and steering mods and maintenance done first, though.

Definitely! What’s weird is that she feels about the same off the line, but it’s tons easier to maintain speed up hills without downshifting.

How’s J5 doing? Are you going to run a cooler like @Squeaky Penguin ? Seems like it’s a great idea, especially for guys like us running dirty fives. They’re cheap enough, I might throw one in when I swap out my rack bushings.

It's good, the pump is still screaming so I will be going to a brand new OEM one soon hopefully and will definitely be getting a cooler. Just got the AC fixed so stoked about that. Need to dig into the dash because the hot/cold switcher gets stuck. Other than that it's running great, have some loud creaks in the UCA's, will likely get new ones soon hopefully. Other than that just doing cheapo mods and trying to get out and use it. Doing minor lighting mods lately because they are stupid cheap to play with.

    First attempt at welding!

    1/8” mild steel, 0.030 solid wire, 75/25 gas @ 15CFH.

Obviously, I have a ton of practicing to do, but it felt awesome to finally lay a bead with my ‘new’ welder.

prep the metal next time and you won't get the black burned stuff. use a flap disk on an angle grinder. If you get exposed fresh metal on both parts your welding MIG will like it MUCH better. Think of it like painting, its all in the prep.

Definitely! Thanks for the feedback, Monte.

I had just set up the new welder for the first time and I wanted to see what I could do right out of the gate.

Can’t wait to really dial it in and start practicing like crazy. I have frame reinforcement to do and shocks to relocate!
