    Hey Guys-

I see people get ECU refalshes as part of TSB updates. When I was at my dealer for my 10k service, I said I wanted all latest ECU/digital updates as I assumed they plugin anyways for each maintenance appointment. He told me they don’t update the software as if it’s an iPhone and it’s only if you exhibit issues. Seems to me you should be allowed to get the latest and greatest TSB and ECU updates no?

That's not how it works, truck needs to exhibit symptoms the tsb can solve. This latest tsb for the surge / stutter /high altitude. There are 2 tsb numbers that come up with the same calibration id after flashing the truck. Some have gotten it just because and it has made their truck worse... not better.

Oh ok so then you can’t just get the most updated flashes unless you show symptoms? I’d imagine people just lie about having the issues?

Is it worth it to lie to get them? Or only if you actually have issues. Seems to me if they were necessary Toyota would make you get it

Correct, if it was needed it would be a recall ot a tab. Some of us can feel everything the truck is doing and some cant feel anything despite the symptoms being there. Then there are trucks that dont need it all. Every truck seems different.

Exactly what he said. Mine is quirky in D but drives fine in S mode. It drives good enough in S mode, I'm not messing with TSB. Build date 1/18.
