Yep, to my knowledge they only offer the 507 with the solar, I get the same washout with my 403C also, I assumed the larger would be less prone to washout but I was incorrect.

I personally like red, I haven’t used green very much, I’m not sure of scientific pros and cons of each.

Just needs suppressor sights, eventually I would like to get a nice cerakote job on it, something like this, and use it in matches.

I threw a red dot on my 336 in 35 Remington this year. Much easier to see than a regular open sight. Considering I don't take shots over 100 yards with it, it made sense to me.

I thought about putting something similar on my gunsite scout for the same reason. I really want to hunt with it and most of my shots are in the woods and well below 100yds.

Have you guys considered ghost rings? I can't use a red dot effectively because I've got an astigmatism, so I had to look at other options, and ghost rings are a lot easier to pick up in a hurry than traditional irons, and at distances of under 100 yards they're plenty accurate.

I had a 3-9x50 on it and used it only for hunting in the woods. Even at x3 it was just too much, considering most of my shots are under 50 yards. I went the cheap route and got a "field sport". They are $20 off ebay, with lots of reviews and tests on youtube. I've had one on a 300 blackout pistol for over a year with zero issues and probably 200 rounds through it and the abuse of riding behind my backseat for weeks on end. It held up fine for the 10 shots or so with the .35 sighting it in and shooting at different distances.

I was either going to get fiber optic sights to replace the irons or a red dot and the red dot was cheaper ;)

    Read the article......pretty crazy!
So, get a FN PS 90......50 rnd mags. Not an SBR.
    Gun that Secret Service carries.
I have one. It’s my truck gun on trips.
It looks ugly, but is super ergonomic, fits like a glove to shoot, light, compact, little kick, stay on target, pepper holes in anything.

I have a question for any people that work in/own a gun shop. Is it considered rude or inconsiderate or any other bad thing to buy guns online and just have them shipped to a local dealer?

I moved to this area a little over a year ago and have not been able to find a gun shop that I like around here. Where I moved from, I had two shops that I frequented and they weren’t ran by Fudds and I personally enjoyed going to visit them often and hang out. Due to that, I’ve never considered buying guns online.

Things are different here and I’d just as soon pick out what I want from Brownells and go pay the local dealer $20 to transfer it to me and be done.

    Depends on the shop

I personally don't care because I can usually beat the shipped online price for most people and I've had several buy a second or even third gun from me after seeing what I could do price wise

I would prefer in store sales, but a transfer is free money for me so whatever

I certainly don't discourage online transfers but I prefer in store sales

I sometimes go to the places where I know people, tell them the price I need to get and give them a chance. If it's a few bucks more, and they can get the item in a reasonable timeframe, fine by me. Everyone needs to put food on the table. If they push back on price, I'll buy it online and have it shipped to another place. Just check the transfer fees before you pick a place. Some pawn shops will soak you.

The thing I found with most LGS is they either have good prices and shitty customer service or great customer service and stupid high prices. Every now and then you can find something in the middle. I went into one shop a few years ago that I had done quite a bit of business with. I was looking to pick up a couple of AR lowers. I was the only customer in the store with 4 sales people and none of them would give me the time of day. They wouldn't even break their conversation to acknowledge my presence. After a few minutes of waiting impatiently, I drove an hour to Spikes Tactical and got the lowers for about $30 less (each). That's one of the main reasons most of my recent purchases have been from Academy. I know what I want when I walk in and get what I want at a fair price. No hassle, no mall ninja BS, just fill out the paperwork and go.

Thanks guys. Definitely good thoughts from a few perspectives.

I do have a Gander Outdoors (previously Gander Mountain) in town and while I generally try to stay away from the “big box” stores, they have a huge in stock selection and none of their gun counter guys have tried to sell me a S&W SD40VE due to its “excellent combination of knock down power and price”.
