For those of you who have owned 2nd gen Tacomas and are now driving 3rd gen Tacomas, how would you compare the overall high/low headlight performance using stock lamps? Better...equal...worse?

    Thanks!

    Worse.

The stock halogens on my 2017 sucked. The Morimoto HID upgrade I did rocked.

Not the biggest fan of my 18’s. They’re pointed too low in my opinion. That’s the only issue I have with them. I don’t remember my 15’s headlights being an issue.

My 2008 actually had a little better headlights than my 2015.

The lights on my 07 were decent, but I think the 17 out shines them.

2nd gen's blind people even with stock bulbs, they were terrible.

My 3rd gen was good, but I had problems with my HID's and LED's, went back to oem before I sold it.

Agreed about the aim. That is an easy fix though. Either no tools or just an 8mm wrench, if I remember correctly. Same for the fogs. No tools there. Just reach down the opening by the headlight and find the knob.

3rd gen seems a lil better compared with my 09.
Might be due to the reflector ?

They are two completely different types of headlights with different types of reflectors and bulbs. My buddy one block away has a '15 that uses the H4. A pretty decent overall light from what I can tell, especially after installing the Osram 70/65 W Rallye bulbs. Too bad those are no longer available. The Gen 2 light seems to have a very smooth dispersion of light, which is a really good thing. I think the Gen 3 projector is more efficient overall with a broader, brighter beams, particularly after the Philips H11 Extreme bulb upgrade. As much light as I ever need. Too many of the illegal (and they are) aftermarket solutions not only have very sketchy electronics but also dump too much light right in front of the vehicle where you don't need it impairing your night distance vision. And comparisons really need to be made on a very dark straight road with as little ambient light as possible.

TRD Exhaust, Mobtown bolt on sliders and aluminum tailgate reinforcement, Reverse lights changed to yellow turn signals, LED pods added for reverse, ADD W1 oil catch can, Total Chaos bed reinforcement, rear diff breather to taillight mod, 12" combo led bars behind lower grill wired to high beams, Toyota led bed light kit, 400 watt anytime mod, SSO slimeline front bumper.
My 13's were pretty good, but I'd give a slight edge to my 18. On both i added light bars behind the grill to go on with the high beams, makes a world of difference.

Aim aside (because that's easily fixed), the 3rd gens are better based off the 6 2nds gens and 2 3rds gens I have experience with
