So Monday on my way to work my front 410 diff locked up. Looks like the pinion bearing seized up. I have another 410 diff I'm swaping in the front. BUT hers the problem it locked up the tires doing 45mph. I think it stripped the gears in the rear diff. I have a diff from a 98 4runner with the gear code A03A is this the same as the tacoma B03A? Can I swap this diff into my Taco axle? On the flip did the gears are still good in the front diff.

4Runner ratio codes are different from Tacoma ratio codes. If you want to know for sure and you still have the VIN, call your favorite Toyota parts department with the last 5 digits of the VIN and ask for gear ratio. I’ve done that with junkyard cars.

I just checked, the junkyard 1995 4Runner Limited I got my front diff from (in the 4.30 ratio) had a gear code of A04A.

I was under the impression the differentials are the same across both vehicles. Only difference is the axle housing for the rear since it’s set up for coils on the T4R.

Just count the teeth on the ring gear and the pinion and divide to get your ratio.

Too many trucks and mods to list.. check builds
the elocker diffs are the same from tacos to 4runners
the 8.4" diffs are the same between tacos, 4runners and tundras. just the housings are different.

So a non e locker rear diff from a 4runner with the gear code A03A should be the same diff from a tacoma with the gear code B03A and should be 410 gears. 41 teath on the ring 10 on the pinion.
