So, took a 30 minute drive with stock 04B04 after running 1.04 on 04B03 for a couple weeks. No comparison. The custom tune is WAY better. This truck just can't wait to get to 6th gear on any stock tune. 6th gear at 40mph going up a slight grade is just dumb to save a little gas. And there is definitely a HP and torque increase in the custom tune that isn't there in the TSB.

I'm glad I did it because I like having a baseline of the latest software from Toyota, but I'll definitely be flashing 1.05 and hopefully 1.04r in the mean time.

@OVTune email sent for files. Hopefully you've got 30 seconds to shoot them to me.

So the only way to get the 1.04r file when you are dongle-less is to contact Matt? It is someone able to send their file over? I just completed the tsb as well.

Yes, Dongle less tune files are system ID specific.

A lot of people have asked, vehicle speed governor removal will be possible with custom tuning for off-road vehicles.
Note sure why anyone would want to do 100+ in this truck off-road, but it's a very popular request.

This is kind of funny. I have visions of someone trying to hit 135 MPH off-road.....I do, of course, realize that in this case "off-road" usually means "closed-course" or track work...

Maybe the USPS will consider a fleet of OVtuned Tacoma's now... ;-)

I've been in a Highlander loaner for a few days now. If I'm not mistaken it has the same 3.5 as the taco. I see it has an 8 speed trans, but this thing is easy to keep at 80 mph on the interstate. Going up a hill? Just push the gas a little more and you can actually feel it. It will maintain speed. Its not like the taco, push the gas farther and farther losing speed until it down shifts.

I just don't get how there can be that much drive-ability difference. I don't have OVTune yet, but did buy a Tactrix to do my own TSB. Figured i would do OVTune eventually. I'm waiting on the sideline to see what 1.05 is all about. No hurry.

Anybody else drive a Highlander and have OVTune to compare? Hoping OV will make the taco drive more like the Highlander.

I had one as a rental when my truck was in for service. IMO 1.05 will probably drastically improve the 3.5 L 6 speed auto combo, but if you want it to be the same as an 8 speed auto in the highlander you'll probably be disappointed. The 8 speed auto is lightyears ahead of the shitty 6 speed in these trucks.

So I'm a dongle user and just switched from 04B03 to 04. I thought I read there was a 1.05 test version available for dongle users only. Correct me if I'm wrong. Maybe it was just for the MT guys. I went to first post and just saw a link for MT guys. Anyway, was hoping to test out 1.05, but if not, I'll continue to wait for the final, polished version. Thanks guys, and Mat for your hard work!

Not sure why anyone would want to do 100+ in this truck period !

Having some balls on the low end of this spectrum would be great though, affording lot's of fun getting up to speed close to that...

Much want. Would probably need to get different wheel/tire setup to actually do 100+ "safely" correct? I'm on stockers and doubt they're speed rated much above 100

I don’t know about you but I would love to go full race truck in the desert with this truck (along with the twin turbos and some long travel :p)

Can this thing even do 100mph? It struggles at 80mph on the highway.

I have a 2017 OR AT and the it identified as a 04B02 ECU (I thought it was supposed to be a 04B03). What do you mean you switched from a 04B03 to a 04B04? Did you just flash the 04 onto it, or did you have your ECU swapped? I've been trying to find info about this, but this thread is HUGE.

Legend has it, months ago, there was a thread of a driver who claimed to have taken this truck to over 100mph on I-295. Then that day, he was banned!
