    Hey, Folks.

I just gave the full version of OBD Fusion a quick test run.

    Here's my data dump:

Well I'm at the dealer. Hopefully in a little while I can report that my truck is updated.

My fellows, this is a great thread that I have been following for a while now. I finally have a contribution to share - Crystal Toyota in Green Brook, NJ performed the update during my 30k service.

Hearing all the refusals made me sure that I’d be in that category (call me a pessimist if you must). So I took note of the 125-18 TSB and came up with a quick script to help guide the service advisor to handle the update.

But then life happens. I’ve been away a lot of weekends recently and haven’t been able to get a service scheduled. So I ended up asking my wife to bring it in during the week, thinking I’ll just hit them for the ECM up at the next service.

But my lady decided to be awesome and took my script with her. They initially were hesitant but my wife insisted they check the PDF she was armed with (thanks forum dudes!) and they conceded she had the goods. Choice quote: “My husband wants me to take care of this. You’ll both make me a hero and avoid having him come in for this.”

Phenomenal, so proud of my wife and grateful my dealership readily complied.

Now to get home and do a test drive! Damn NYC bus commute.... Until then, 3 cheers to the TW!!

You'd have to use an OBD adapter and the OBD Fusion app. Otherwise, does it feel different?

Honestly I can’t imagine a dealer would risk fraud to Toyota Corp and submit for warranty work they didn’t perform. But then I actually liked my dealer so I can’t presume you trust yours...

Well I had them take it back in hook it up and print off something verifying the calibration. They probably think I'm a dick but I wanted to know for sure especially living over an hour away. It only took a couple minutes and they seemed happy to do it for me.
So put Labadie Toyota down as good to go!!!

Will any bluetooth OBD II adapter work or would you suggest one in particular? Also, will the regular Fusion app work or would I need to upgrade it to the enhanced PID?

I have an apt tomorrow to see if mine needs updated. From what I've read I probably have the 04A71 already cause my build date was August.

Mine is ancient and has worked flawlessly. About the only one that I can flat out recommend is the Carista one. The price without shipping is least on their website.

I bought both the Fusion app and the enhanced PID at the same time. My guess is that you don't need the PIDs, but I don't know for sure. You can always add them on if needed?

I'd probably wait to see how you appointment goes first? If you can get them to do any customizations at the same time and you see the calibration ID, you might not have to get an adapter unless you want to?

None yet other than LED lights interior, BFG's.
Took in my 2017 TRD OR MT for it's 15000 mile service today. Brought a copy of TSB--0125-18 which specifically mentions manual transmissions, and hoped to get the ECU flashed with the B1300 update at the same time. NO LUCK. Dolan Toyota of Reno said that would require leaving the truck all day with a tech, and it would only be done if they could recreate the idle surge with steering input. I couldn't leave the truck here all day, got sh#t to do. Does the dealership incur any cost when they reflash/update the ecu to them? Why do they have to be so difficult?

The Dealership gets paid by Toyota to do TSB's.

Most work orders posted show a billable time of 0.4hr. About $40 labor at most places these days? The update really takes about 10min or less if you have the computer booted up.

So, there is a minor cost that can either be sacrificed in the name of customer satisfaction or judicious wording of a savvy service adviser.

Had my appointment with my dealer today and got mixed results. First, I got the same push back other got with them saying it's a fly by wire truck so there will be delayed throttle responce. But I took the advice of others and showed him the TSB 58-18 and pointed out the MT ID codes. That got the truck to the Tech guys. The results on my close out paperwork states; "reflashed engine ECU as per TSB-005818, newest update installed." However, they would not give me anything in writing showing the previous ID code vs the new one. I haven't noticed any change in throttle responce but does seem to run smoother at low RPMs. Fyi, my build date is August 2018.

They might have done it? Scan the ECU and see?

    though!

Yeah, I can't seem to let it go so I ordered a Veepeak OBD II scanner today.
