Working on it, thinking about a 50in onyx!

Edit: Just need @wileydavis to make some hinges with machined Onyx mounts built in. Seems like the only was I'll be able to stick a 50in in there.

20181101_104608.jpg Don't mind the dirty truck or picture quality, but I'm finally GFC bound. Six more hours and I'll have some pics of a black GFC on my magnetic grey 2018 Tacoma OR DCLB. The stoke is high!

I picked up my GFC camper in Montana on Monday. I'm very pleased with it. I wanted to pass along my experience on the time estimates for building the camper. On April 14, 2018, I ordered and paid in full for the camper. On June 8, 2018, GFC predicted that it would finish building my camper in the first week of October. On October 24, 2018, the leaderboard showed my camper was ready to ship. I think a two and 1/2 week difference between estimated and actual completion dates is surprisingly good for a new start-up predicting four to six months out.

After a quick install, a little chat about accessories, and leaving the GFC crew with a few Boise brews I hit the road to head back home. This thing is solidly built and I can't wait to get a little more thorough look tomorrow when I make it home. I drove an hour through pretty substantial rain before it finally cleared up, so of course I stopped for some pics and to cook a quick dinner.

Understood and that makes sense batching White Glove deliveries for certain regions, I was wondering cause my que number is #153 with a build date end of Jan.

What sliders are those on your DCLB? Truck is looking tidy with the GFC!

Bay area metal fabrication, 20 degree kickout boltons. They are beefy and awesome. It was the first upgrade I did. @JLee can hook you up.

I was torn between BAMF and Mobtown and went with Mobtown. I thought I remembered those but couldn't remember the exact brand. I'm not exactly local to either one of them and since I would have to ship it anyway, I went with Mobtown. I like their rear support that will help against flexing when standing on the kickout to get access to the bed.

So it's been 2 weeks since the scheduled extrusion delivery on 10/22 and it looks like 5 campers have been completed since then?? 38 are still in production...was hoping for more progress.

It seems the dream of 10 campers completed per week is not happening any time soon.

@wileydavis Any updates you can share?

    It's DLX son!
Do keep in mind they have to cut the extrusion to size after receiving it, then it has to go out to powder coat. Throw in getting prepped for SEMA and I think it's not surprising that we haven't seen an explosion of campers being completed quite yet.

Releasing 5 a week consistently would be quite the milestone considering everything that goes into these.

Plastic snap hooks and some 1.5 mm cord. Holds rear window partially open. For full open, the carabiner and bar work.

    Idea courtesy of @wileydavis

Edit: photo didn’t work, trying again.

    Lets talk GFC lighting!

I had decided to go with the GFC lighting package, even though I struggled in my mind with the price. When I picked up the GFC, Graeme said they were in the middle of a redesign to improve it. So no GFC light package. What the heck, surely I could figure something out. This is what I did and why:

For the upstairs I used the Lucie string lights. I had been using their inflatable solar lights for backpacking and tent camping and they were bomb proof. I saw a good write up on expeditions.com on their string light package and decided to try it. $35 bucks at REI.IMG_2770.jpg
The length turned out about perfect and warm LEDs make the area much more comfortable than most white LEDs. 4 modes: low, med, high, spotlight reading. One end gets charged by USB. I ran them around the perimeter using a 1" cable ties plastic brackets from home depot and small tie wraps. They look like this:IMG_2769.jpg
Pro Tip: if you run the tie wrap through 2 holes, the line slides. If you run it through one it locks it. Oh and fishing line is good to remove a bracket:). I like the fact that if it fails, I can replace it in just a few minutes. Just clip a few tie wraps. Its a complete system so no splicing or tricky electric work. Heres a couple shots:IMG_2764.jpgIMG_0316.jpg

Looks pretty good for $40 bucks if I do say so myself. The controls sit in one corner and the USB charge port sits in the other. Closes fine. If they continue to do well, I may pick up another set for a future awning.

For the bed, I kept it simple. I bought four smallIMG_2781.jpg ETEKCITY camping lanterns for 34 bucks. Magnetic base, 3 brightness settings, easy to hang. They just push to close and are pretty compact. One fits perfect (in a little padded case) in the bed cutout.

So thats a rundown of what I decided to do. So far I like it a lot. Happy modding.
