LOL. Sorry I laughed, but nice approach in answering the question.
My first thought was "Here we go again." My second thought after seeing the OP had over 600 posts was "Bullshit!" But you hit my third thought. If you have over 600 posts on here and this is such a common problem, then how is it possible?

Maybe Toyota needs to issue a TSB to add a sticker to the bottom of the tranny (like the LSD sticker on our rear differentials that lasts forever) that says "STOP, THIS IS THE TRANSMISSION!"...or maybe just "Don't open this plug, it's the wrong hole."

Don't you guys ever read your owners manuals? All that shit is in there so that you don't fuck it up! Just read your owners manuals guys! Or just do what I do and take it to the stealership, so that if it gets fucked up it's on their ass and you can sue them!

I don't know that I would have let that one out...thats gonna earn you a sign. :p

Good luck to you and I hope there's no damage to the tranny. If it needs to go somewhere it should be on a tow truck until you get the trans fluid replaced.

We all do stupid shit every now and then. Live & learn right?

    OMG...thats rich!!! :p

OP, after looking through the above thread, I can totally see how you made the mistake. I didn't know the oil pan and trans fluid pan looked so alike! So...a touch less fail. Fail Lite? Diet Fail? Lol jk, good luck bro! :p

Whats an oil change at the dealer worth? Pretty cheap here.... like $45 I think, I was surprised on how cheap it was. You can hardly buy oil and filters at an auto parts store for that price!

Dont be that guy.....LOL JK.. Even though I have changed my oil a couple of times because of these past threads, I always just get my bearings straight first when I climb under to drain. Im like ummm ok thats the engine straight above, ok im good.

Most folks are not used to seeing a tranny plug, I thinks its my first vehicle ever with one. What amazes me is you have be a friggin scientist to get that shit back in there. I can see how easily it could be done. Its what toyota calls a sealed unit.

Actually, my lifetime cost is only $19.95 at the dealership. The higher the price of oil, the better this looks. But I did some research and at today's oil prices I can beat it...if I buy a few years worth of parts and oil on the internet all at once.

true! i would at least start the thread with:

"errr..my friend accidentally drained the tranny! what should i tell HIM to do?!!!"

honestly, first time i did my oil change i looked at the tranny and said to myself..."damn, that would be an easy mistake!" the original owner must have thought the same thing, because he hit the oil pan and drain plug with bright red spray paint.......changed my MIL's oil on her infinity I35. those two drain plugs are side by side about 3" apart. i had my wife triple check the owners manual with me...TRIPLE check. i had my eyes closed when i cracked the seal. i should have hit that one with red paint.

Ok, that made me lol, and since you had the sack to not only admit that you drained the tranny, but that you had done the change yourself before, I'm giving you rep!

(and if that doesn't end up as someone's signature quote, I don't know what will!)
