I said after the Purdue loss that they were out of it....

I just saw something this week where someone was saying they should make the playoff. Can’t remember who said it and really didn’t pay much attention to it, just laughed.

 

I'd like to say at most a bad team... Bad, bad team is a stretch.

Referees are to enforce the rules, as defined- I don't accept them working outside of the framework defined by wording. The rule is clear. Nowhere does it say that.
I'm not even arguing against that. It's the fact that the Louisville player was the one targeting, by lowering the crown of his helmet into the Clemson player, but was not called- there is such a thing as offensive targeting.

 

crown being basically draw a line around the helmet basically at the top of the facemask, and anything above that is crown, right?

 

Well I haven’t seen a snap by Nebraska all year until now, just knew thier record. Going by that, looks like a bad, bad team.

The defender turned his body, as not to destroy the guy, and the right side (ear hole) of his helmet hit the CROWN of the defender's helmet. The defender saw the wallop coming and went into fetal position, yet still advancing, with the CROWN of his helmet into the defender.

 

hm, that sounds super familiar like I've seen a hit where that wasn't called...

but you just said lowering the crown of the helmet into the player. it doesn't require helmet to helmet anymore...per the rules.

You are kidding, right? Of those teams who is going to challenge us? We beat BC by 14+, Duke by 30+ and USuCk by 30+....?

 

My understanding, which is almost based on nothing, is to the opposing player's helmet. I'm not aware of helmet to body as a penalty.
Am I thinking of NFL? Either way, I don't agree with 'to body'

 

All i dont agree with is having different calls in different games..put some guy in an office somewhere and make his job only to decide targeting. And he decides ALL of them.

That's a great article, and I still don't believe #8 was targeting. He might have got caught on the "Leading with helmet, shoulder, forearm, fist, hand or elbow to attack with forcible contact at the head or neck area" as was leading with shoulder, but was not at head or neck. The crown definitely did not even make contact. Also, "Note 1: "Targeting" means that a player takes aim at an opponent for purposes of attacking with forcible contact that goes beyond making a legal tackle or a legal block or playing the ball" does not apply because #8 eased up, as not to chance "go(ing) beyond". The guy changed from a squared position to turning sideways and was dang near standing straight up when they made contact, not crouching or driving.
