You should look into doing the Volvo MAF swap, get rid of the bullet. It’s easy to do on the stock air box or the KN type and your truck will definitely run better.

Well they’ve been changed at least once since single electrode Autolite brand isn’t stock. Also had a piece of rubber stuck to it. Part of the boot I guess?

Probably why this had the P0304 code and the spark was coming out of the side of the boot.

I don't know what toyota called it but it's grey. My interior is tan or "oak" I guess but I really don't care if it matches or not personally. It's just way better!

So replaced the radiator, hoses, cleaned out the over flow tank, flushed and burped the system. Coincidently, the gauge on the cluster spiked passed H. My scan tool has operating temp after driving all day between 186-192. Let the truck sit overnight, next morning, turn the key on and the needle goes all the way to H. I disconnect the single wire sender and ground the wire; it pegs past H, just a little movement. Reconnect the wire, drops back to H. Engine is cold... Thoughts? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Id start by changing the coolant temp sender for the gauge. Not the one for the ECU. On the 3Rz the one you want to change is right above the outlet for the top hose. Napa should have one for around $20.

Thanks for the responce. I’ve got a new sender in my spare parts stash. It was just changed a year ago along with the gauge by the dealer. Senders shouldn’t go bad that often...(On the 5VZ, its on the back of the motor by the heater hose; against the fire wall.)

Did a little light exploring this morning. I never tested 4wd when I was buying the truck and finally had the chance to make sure everything was working right. Happy to say that the rear e-locker works as does 4-hi and 4-low.

I most definitely need new rear leafs tho. The stock leafs just don't provide the clearance at full stuff for the 285/75 tires nor enough flex.

Changed the #4 plug and wire, reconnected the battery and started it up. Stuttering has stopped, check engine light is off. Drove a couple miles, no sputtering.

Now to let it cool down and change the rest of them.

Bad ground for that gauge, check the grounds on the intake manifold.
