The only 2018 TSB I found was for AT (TSB #T-SB-0062-18). The OP was asking about the trans for a new Tacoma and would think they come with the latest software.

You want either TSB-0058-18 Rev 1 or TSB-0125-18. Both do the same magic on all builds up to August 2018.

I've had several vehicles with a manual transmission. That's probably why I can appreciate an automatic.

Will a generic OBDII reader tell me which OEM tune I have?

Sorry, but I don't specifically know. I have seen that some all-in-one tools can display the ECU code. Ones that you borrow for free at an autoparts store might? I only have an old BT Adapter at home and the Torque and Carista apps on my phone. Neither currently display the ECU ID. I might give OBD Fusion a shot since it is only a few $$. OBD Fusion will display the ECU ID, just no personal experience.

I gave OBD Fusion a try. For my Android phone, it was $5 for the app plus another $10 for the enhanced PIDs.

Here was the vehicle screenshot with the ECU ID:

The best thing about having a manual transmission is telling everyone you drive a manual

Manual transmissions are the new CrossFit

No the best thing about having a manual transmission is driving the vehicle.

Only if you have a MT and enjoy driving will you know what I am talking about...

F outta here with that non-sense..

Like we MT owners are vegans or something.

I work with a lady from Spain who has driven manuals her whole life. She drove her first automatic here in the states. She proclaimed loudly, “I am driving a toy!”, and she hated every minute of it.

Two middle-age ladies from Dublin, who are also working here temporarily, said the same things about automatics.

A 30 year old 5’2 Spanish women and 2 middle aged Irish ladies prefer prefer to drive MT, which means it’s not CrossFit.

    You would think, wouldn't you?

But it turns out this little truck in a MT is just a blast to drive at the limit, even without the OEM tune.

Bought an auto due to my old, rotten knees. Came back to Toyota trucks from a Wrangler. If they are going to be doing a lot of off-roading, most Jeep folks now want an auto.
