I had only had the truck for a week. I noticed a little vibration at 60 mph so I googled and found this site. After browsing around, I finally found a TSB for a frame rust inspection and also an inspection for the vibration. So I called dealer and gave them my vin and they said to bring it in. The dealer said yes, they feel a vibration and so they would go ahead and do the u joint install under warranty and also my frame inspection failed so they ordered me a $15000 frame lol. Under warranty. My truck is damn nice and has 192k so I’m pumped. My dealer is great. They pulled a truck off the lot and put the driveshaft and rear wheels on my truck. It alsmost solved the vibration because the ujoints didn’t. So I need to have my drive shaft balanced as well as my tires/wheels.

Get under the truck, look at center bearing, check out the rubber on each side. Should be completely even, no budge towards the front or rear when at rest. if not, the mechanic who installed your 'new' center bearing installed it while it The driveshaft will it was on a lift, proper protocol, is to install driveshaft on the lift, install carrier bolts just tight enough to hold in place, put the truck on the ground, then center and tighten bolts. A lazy mechanic will install driveshaft and tighten carrier bearing bolts while on the lift. Once the truck is lowered, rear springs compress putting forward force on carrier, he sent budge.

Put a GoPro under it, take a drive. See exactly what's happening. See if it's the center bearing. Could bear wheel bearing or leafs.

Since 2006 to 2018, I've changed center bearing twice, then went to one piece driveshaft. Failing in 1 year, without 6"+ lift, no way!!!!

TSB states, may also cause damage to carrier bearing and driveshaft. They need to replace your driveshaft.

I am quite confused by this.. What 24mm nut is he talking about?? I have replaced ujoints several times on my truck and have never encountered a 24mm nut. The only 24mm nuts im aware of are the drain/fill plugs on the diffs and t case.

They found that the U-Joints were in deed faulty, after replacing The U-Joints condition persisted. They determined it to be out of balance driveshaft.. Hense driveshaft damaged by faulty factory U-joints, or have dealership prove otherwise.

The dealership gets paid, and well, for recall work, they just need proof to submit to Toyota USA Corp to get reimbursement.

Same thing here! I've replaced CB, u joints , rear end and now more noise so i flipped the new cb( rubber is blown out all ready) and shimmed it down a little more and it drives great. Hope it lasts a little longer. and as someone said noise get louder with weight in the back you know its the cb

You replaced the rear differential? And center bearing and U-Joints? Chasing a vibration, at your cost? Please say you didn't have done at dealership? Looking at what $3,000+?
    Look into recalls......

    You did all of that?

For around $650 I had one piece 4" aluminum driveshaft custom made, problem solved! Even with 7" lift. (mines a Pre-runner, adding slip for 4WD I assume would add some extra $$$$ to cost, but still....

If this cb don’t fix mine and they won’t put me a new driveshaft in then I’m going custom driveshaft

If you have a local 4x4 group or awesome custom shop, ask them the what's the best 'Goto' shop for custom Tacoma driveshafts. If not, if you see an awesome rig driving around ask them if they know of a good shop locally.

    Or always there's Tom Woods.

Mine was $650, made by a local shop that does Tacoma driveshafts. But, I have a Pre-runner, meaning no need for slip in the driveshaft and hense it's longer, needed to be aluminum and 4" diameter.

Not being lifted, you may have clearance issues going with 4", 3" made of steel, not aluminum, and reusing your slip and yokes from OEM shaft, I'd say $600 done and finished.
